Thank you, thank you for sending me all of the pictures and blog posts from Saturday’s run. I really had no idea how many people would participate, and I am still in awe. I wanted to include every single picture, but it was impossible. Please know I viewed them all. Every single one.
I decided to put some photos of the day in a slideshow. Making this video brought me to tears a few times. It truly was a work of love! I go back and forth between such utter sadness about Sherry, and such complete amazement at the existence of such world-wide compassion.
Here you go.
Happy birthday, Sherry.
SUAR
Very touching. What a wonderful tribute.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe video is awesome! It would be great if there could be a Run for Sherry half marathon in her town or around there. Or somehow coordinate Run for Sherry 5k in select bigger towns. This story has touched so many runners. RIP Sherry. You have touched the lives of thousands!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful video! I love that so many people (and dogs!) got out there and ran for Sherry!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Sherry.
A stunningly beautiful tribute to Sherry. Thank you, Beth, for giving us the opportunity to do something positive in the wake of such tragedy. Bless you and your family.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Video. I agree with a 5k or half a marathon in memory of Sherry! You have touched so many people everywhere!
ReplyDeleteThis brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful community of runners.
ReplyDeleteThat was Beautiful ~
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this. What an incredible tribute, that of which i am positive brought tears to many. May God bless your families in this time of despair. We will never forget!
ReplyDeleteSo you know, Alabama was represented. We tried to post the photo to your facebook page, but for some reason it wouldn't post. We here at Maxwell AFB ran for Sherry. My daughter runs track and cross country for both AAU and USATF and it felt good letting her know how healing running can be and how mean people suck, but we are never to go through life afraid. Thanks for posting the video. It was beuatiful.
ReplyDeleteAwesome. I wished I would have brought my camera with me. I did 21 miles throughout Houston and ran past a couple people also wearing Sherry's bib.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely moving tribute. Hard to see through the tears. As I laid down to sleep last night, I prayed that her family would feel all this love surround them and ease their pain - even if but for a moment.
ReplyDeletelovely, tear-jerking tribute! I was a slacker and did not send you a pic yet but I'm glad to see Chi-town represented. :) RIP Sherry.
ReplyDeleteI was proud to be part of that run.
ReplyDeleteThis is just the most awesome thing I've seen in a long time. People can be truly amazing and sometimes that is easy to forget.
ReplyDeleteOn a different note - look at all that snow - makes me feel like a wuss for talking about how cold I was in Austin, Texas (it was in the 30s).
Tears are flowing. That was so wonderful, Beth. The running community and power of the human spirit overwhelmes me. I know Sherry was smiling down from Heaven seeing all these amazing ppl. Blown away.
ReplyDeleteA.M.A.Z.I.N.G.
ReplyDeleteI ran for Sherry yesterday.
It was my first run in 7 months due to injury.
What a perfect day to make a new start & run for someone else other than myself.
It was liberating.
Thank you Beth.
YOU are AMAZING.

That was beautiful, Beth. So glad to be a part of the Boulder run!

It was a beautiful slideshow. I was brought to tears as well sitting here at school on my break watching it.
ReplyDeleteVery, very nice.
ReplyDeleteMoving video. I agree with Angela - it would be great if this continued every year. I'd run it.
ReplyDeleteWow! I am so moved; once again I don't know that any words could ever express how much the love from all over the world has helped our community. It is so overwhelming that I cry thinking about it; THANK YOU to everyone that participated in the Virtual Run and for the constant prayers, thoughts and messages we have recieved from everyone as a community.

ReplyDeletei think i've got about 50+ linked up in my post...seriously amazing http://www.runtothefinish.com/2012/02/run-for-sherry.html
ReplyDeleteAmazing! I rode on Saturday and we talke of Sherry, I ran on Sunday and I thought of Sherry, I went to the finish line of the 1/2 in Arvada on Sunday and watched with tears in my eyes and 5 or 6 different people finished with bibs. What a good thing you did Beth. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this wonderful tribute! You did an excellent job! I'm going to post your video on my page too!
ReplyDeleteWOW. Beautiful tribute. Look at what you accomplished for Sherry. I'm sure she is very proud and thankful to have such a wonderful cousin. Forgot to send in my picture but I know there were several of us in Peoria, Illinois who participated as well. God bless!
ReplyDeleteEverything that you have done for Sherry and her memory has been really touching.
ReplyDeleteI ran for Sherry on Saturday. My blog post and photos: http://ultrarunnergirl.blogspot.com/2012/02/run-for-sherry.html
That gave me the ugly cry. Still heartbroken for her family and that she could not witness the worldwide love shown in that video. You made a simple event into something amazing and so honoring. Thank you, Beth.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. If you don't get even a little choked up watching this, then you don't have a pulse. My father, his wife and I walked/ran in San Diego. I believe someone driving by recognized the bibs because when they drove by they rolled down their windows, cheered and gave us the thumbs-up (as opposed to another gesture which would have meant something entirely different). I hope you found some peace this weekend.

ReplyDeleteThat was so beautiful. I am so glad I got out and ran on Saturday and carried Sherry with me. We never met but she got me moving that day.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Caroline. This *should* be an annual event.
I'm you felt all the love, peace, and healing thoughts we were all sending to your.
I was able to get my miles in on Sunday. Late, but there. No photo. Loved the video. Loved.
ReplyDeleteI didn't take any photos (sorry :( ) or really do anything except run on my own and dedicate time in thought, but I was thinking of you all on Saturday. That was a wonderful video, thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSherry's spirit hung around to appreciate your efforts to honour her memory then she said good bye in a dream. Now she's in a loving and good place.
ReplyDeleteWell done, Beth.
Speechless. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteTears...yes. This is so touching, Beth. I love it.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow. I have no words.

I, for one, will not be running alone on the country roads like I used to. God Bless you and your family and all of the other families who have lost someone in this same way. runners unite..

That was amazing! It was an honor to run for Sherry..
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tribute.
ReplyDeleteSo amazing to see such a worldwide turnout of love and support!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't run on Sat., but yesterday I ran the National Breast Cancer Marathon ("the Donna" as it's called locally) in Jacksonville Beach, FL and dedicated my run to Sherry. Your stories about her and her kindness, her laughter and the photos with her warm smile all inspired me to keep going as strong as I could.
Thank you, Beth, for sharing Sherry. If you hadn't, she might have been just another tragic blip on the national news. But now she's alive in so many vital, caring, running people. That is true light and power.
So inspiring. Didn't just tear up...cried outright. I ran Saturday but didn't think to get pictures as the bib was on my back! But I hope all the other runners saw it and remembered Sherry and her family!
ReplyDeleteBeth, I have tears in my eyes. What an amazing event, and a beautiful video. Its been a tough weekend for me and my run for sherry was just what was needed. RIP Sherry.

ReplyDeleteBad mean people stink and there are so many wonderful supportive good people out there. I'm proud to be part of this running community.

ReplyDeleteThank you for letting us know about Sherry and allowing us to share in your grief. You have given us an opportunity to take a stand and do something positive in a moment of tragedy.
I know many in South Carolina who ran, walked, biked and kick-boxed for Sherry while holding her and her entire family in each our hearts.
So thank you for giving us a moment to do something for each of you. You have truly touched many.
