The Saddest Day

Sherry is not coming home. We learned this this morning. More details and information will come from authorities later today.

Announcement HERE.

I wish so badly I did not have to write this. Until now, I really thought I might see her again.

I can’t express my gratitude to you all for your support of me, her family and community. For keeping her in your prayers and heart. I know she will forever be in mine.

    Oh, Beth. I'm so sorry that this is the outcome.

    I actually dreamt about Sherry last night. I hoped that meant she was coming home.

    If Sherry's family does any kind of fundraiser for college funds or donations to a charity please let us know. I think all of us can see ourselves in this tragedy and will want to help in some way.

    Oh Beth... When I saw "hearbroken" in my twitter feed with a link I really hoped it was another update, another day of no news, and not the final word that she had been found and that the news wasn't the good news we had all been hoping for. I'm at my desk at work, trying to keep it together while my heart absolutely aches for you and the rest of the people who love Sherry.

    I will echo the comments above - if there is a fundraiser, a trust fund, a charity, anything - please let us know. Someone on Facebook mentioned a virtual race - maybe we could doa virtual race and all pay an "entry fee" that goes to her charity/family/etc.

    Oh Beth. I have thought of Sherry and her family many times this week. I am so very sorry for your loss, their loss, the devastation to her students, coaching clients, the community. I hope that when you all figure out a way to honor her going forward (a scholarship, a race, whatever) you will let us know so that we can help to celebrate her spirit, gifts to others and memory.

    I am sorry. I am scared of the details that will emerge as to Sherry's dreadful fight. I grieve for you, Sherry's family, students, fellow teachers, neighbors...Sidney will never be the same. My runs will never be the same. Please know that Sherry will inevitable have saved lives. I will no longer take chances running where I know I shouldn't. I will ALWAYS carry a cell phone from now on. I am mad as hell. I am sad.
