Really, I just got done reading this book and living vicariously thru these super human bodies. These people are insane. But I am somehow drawn to the insanity. That special unique group called ultra marathoners.
I often wonder what will be next. You've got your Ironman and your ultras. Now being done on the hottest and coldest places on earth. Distances keep getting longer.
And me? I am happy with my measly marathon. 26.2 miles used to be a really long way to run, after all.
Last but not least, thanks to Tara at Colorado Runner for my "lovely" award. She was nice enough to say this about my blog: I couldn't imagine a week without your fart/boob shot humor. I love crude humor. What can I say...that's how I roll. I love crude humor too and I'm guessing whoever I don't scare away must be in agreement.
Drinking your own piss? You crack me up; that's all I have to say. I'll have to check out this book. I love books about pain, makes me feel good about my measly little runs too. Have you read Dean Karnazes book "Ultramarathon Man: Confessions of an All Night Runner"? Good times.
ReplyDeleteyeah too bad I thought the depends thing was a good idea, and until the making shoes remark I really thought maybe you were crazy enough to do all those things. lol.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I agree- your blog is hilarious! And oh my gosh, I read that book. INSANE.
ReplyDeleteA most excellent book - when are you moving to Mexico?
ReplyDeleteHilarious! I look forward to your blog posts! I may have to check out that book, too!
ReplyDeleteYou are cracking me up! Great post!
ReplyDeleteBAAAAAHAHAHA, laughing out loud at that first paragraph!
ReplyDelete26.2 is a damn long way. Those ultra/extreme runners are a different breed!
Hee. Welcome back. :o)
ReplyDeleteAgreement!
ReplyDeleteUltrarunners and mountaineers - I love to read about them, but I'm not going to be joining them anytime soon. I'm in complete agreement with you.
ReplyDeleteHa! I think the same thing about what will be next . . . if an ultra is the "new" marathon, what else is there? I think I'll stick with the measly 26.2, too.
ReplyDeleteHA HA! Never will i ever, drink my own urine.... at least i hope that day never comes!
ReplyDeleteI had a post dedicated to the P.C.'s AKA poopy cramps, so you know I love ya! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI'll stick to the 26.2 myself.
Woo hoo!! Ultra marathoners! I can't believe I can call myself one. I'd love to do one of them in these crazy places, with extreme conditions. maybe that's next...
ReplyDeleteI am definitely in agreement.
ReplyDeleteThat book sounds good! I love stories like that. I wonder if my library has it. Hmm...
Ah, you beat me to it. I was going to do this for my next "book report". You did it better though by jumping to the "drink urine" angle. It was a great read wasn't it?
ReplyDeletemy friend just read that book and said it was awesome- i really need to pick this up at the store! do you think you would ever do a half ironman, ironman, or ultra marathon??
ReplyDeleteI never, ever would have even considered doing an ultra until I read this book. I still think 26.2 is a great feat, but it's funny how your perspective changes. Since reading this, I have started to wonder when I'll finally go for a 50-mile ultra....at this point it is kind of not if, but when. It seems totally doable. (Yes, I am insane.)
ReplyDeleteAm about done with this book. Loving it. I never told you this but I entered this 'man vs. horse' race and won - it was so cool. I also drank tequila made from rattlesnake corpse then set out on a hilly trail run in Mexico PR'd and all. Urine, as you know is sterile, so besides smelling funny - it's not too bad for you. Mine's really sweet.
