I’m headed to Vegas in December, are you?
You may or may not have heard that the Urban Running Blogger’s Summit in Vegas on marathon weekend has been canceled. That was to be my speaking debut in the world of running and blogging. Now I don’t know how I will teach people the art of how to grow your blog by talking about bodily functions. Damn it. If you would like a private session, let me know.
Even without the Summit, lots of bloggers will be descending on Vegas for the weekend: Runners Rambles, Skinny Runner, EMZ, and Cook Eat Train Race to name a few.
My greatest hope is that somewhere along the marathon route I will find this:
The good thing about a night race, like Vegas, is no one can see any fluids that mistakenly escape from your body and land on your running clothes. This incudes sweat, spit, piss and other unmentionables.
Will you be at the Vegas Rock ‘n Roll? If so, where are you staying? I haven’t booked yet. I usually stay at the Wynn/Encore but am considering the Hotel at Mandalay Bay to be close to race stuff.
SUAR
Can I tell that I had "one of those accidents" on my long run Saturday. Oh the shame!
ReplyDeleteFinally, I *get* it!
I WISH! Getting married instead HAH!
ReplyDeleteDude…wanna share a room? ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'll be there. Shopping for a gold lamé stretch hotpants outfit to run in.
XLMIC: hubby might go too. We're working on it. I do want to see you in your lame though. I might wear a thong with Elvis on it.
ReplyDeleteI didn't notice that I got pooped on by a goose during my run last night until I got home - you can check out the pics on my blog post today. ;)
ReplyDeleteI WISH I was doing the RnR, but I've pretty much spent all my allowance on races this year. Add in a plane ticket and hotel and it just doesn't work. Oh well!
Awwwww ya.
ReplyDeleteBring on the bj!!!
Oh how I WISH I could be there with ya!!!! You are hilarious! Love the McD's sign! Running in the dark and not having to worry if anyone could see that I wet myself would be awesome! Girl, you need to run the Divas Half Marathon at Myrtle Beach next May! Someday I hope to meet you and hear you speak!
ReplyDeleteMy son, Ryan, wants to run this as his Christmas present. Just not sure it's in the unemployment budget.
ReplyDeleteI will be there with one of my teaching colleagues from South Dakota! it looks like it will be a blast!
ReplyDeleteJust signed up the other day, along with my husband, best friend, aunt, and uncle! This my first half marathon and my first "run" (I'm walking/running the half) longer than a 7K...so I will not get to meet you in Vegas, as I will be finishing at least an hour after you. :) We're staying at my friend's boyfriends timeshare for free. Many of the "official" hotels are sold out at this point. I need ideas for an awesome outfit...
ReplyDeleteI will be running the half too! We will be staying at the tropicana which is right across from the start/finish and has the best rates by FAR!
ReplyDeleteWill Elvis be on the front or the crack... I mean, back?
ReplyDeleteMight be kind of chafe-y...
I will be there too!! I can't wait to see Vegas :) I am staying at the Tropicana, they just renovated the place!
ReplyDeleteEMZ says bring on the BJ? Am I missing something here? What type of marathon are we running?
ReplyDeleteMaybe it should say BM? Bowel Movement?
Jason: the BM and the BJ. Together. It's an all in one kinda thing.
ReplyDeleteBlackjack. Get out of the gutter.
I was in the gutter with Jason :P Not the event I thought I had entered...
ReplyDeleteand look at that... only 4 more to 2K... wowza.
I'll be there for the 1/2! I think I'm going to book at Mandalay..waiting on a friend to confirm with me..
ReplyDeleteAh man I want to go...
ReplyDeleteit is only 3 hours away...
I'll be there. Don't know where I'm staying yet either. Bummed I don't get to hear you talk about pooping!
ReplyDeleteYay can't wait to see you again and this time let's make our meeting longer than a few minutes ;) will be a blast!!
ReplyDeleteDammit! I'll be in Sacramento for the California International Marathon. Oh wait, all the cool kids are doing that one!
ReplyDeleteToo bad about the summit, but it's sure to be an epic weekend nonetheless!
ReplyDeleteBummer about the summit. I'm going to be there doing the half. Can't wait!!!
ReplyDeleteI ran Vegas in '09 and stayed at New York New York. Less pricey than Mandalay Bay and you can get to MB with just a quick walk next door to Excalibur and then hop on a tram. And it was a nice warm-up distance to the start on race morning. i wouldn't have wanted to be any further away.
ReplyDeleteMy friend Kerry and I will be running the half...our first one! Yay!! We are very excited. We are staying at Excaliber, only cause its the closest/cheapest to the start! Last time I checked Mandalay Bay was sold out, but that might have only been their cheap rooms. We hope to see you run past us! Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteYes, I'll be there! I'm staying at the Luxor for Saturday and Sunday- I booked like 6 months ago that is how pumped I am for this one.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking of booking at the Venetian for Friday night (will be driving in late after work if I do come out that night) to be close to the race expo the next day.
Surprisingly, I don't have any GI/bodily issues when I run (and I have plenty when I am just sitting around the house) Maybe I'm not running fast enough?
They must have gotten scared of what you were bringing and cancelled the summit. Maybe you could just make your rpesentation on a street corner?
ReplyDeleteI'm going kinda ghetto and staying at Excalibur. I figure this gives me more running for Friday night and post run drinks in a huge plastic glass I can wear with a lanyard around my neck!
ReplyDeleteThat was going to be my 2nd marathon this year but I didn't trust my energy level at night. Opted for Philly instead. Oh well - I'll miss all the fun :(
ReplyDeleteI knew I loved McDs for a reason!
ReplyDeleteI'm running the R&R 1/2 in Vegas.... i think the Mandalay Bay is already sold out, as is the Luxor (right next door). Amazing to me how these huge hotels can sell out of all the rooms but ... hey its Vegas.
ReplyDeleteOn my favorite run there is a corner that will be forever known as *hit corner. Thank goodness it's a trail run.
ReplyDeleteToo bad about the summit. Wish I could join you all--fun group! And so does this mean you've decided on the full (it's sounding that way)?
ReplyDeleteKovas--good one! ; )
ReplyDeleteZippy: no, the half. The full is sold out! Not that I am ready to do one anyway.
ReplyDeleteI'll be running CIM in Sacramento, 'cause thats where all the cool kids will be.....well,according to Jamoosh.
ReplyDeleteohhh i realllllly want to go because what a blast with everyone. I'm just trying to figure out cost...man even the half is $155!
ReplyDeleteWhere on earth did you find that sign! : ) I am thinking about a Feb marathon; it's quite a bit later for training overlap, but I'll be maintaining decent long runs well before getting the focus on. Maybe we can hook up for some long runs!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to run Vegas-- I'm raising money and running for Team Challenge, but definitely need help reaching my goal!
ReplyDeleteLove the Wynn but staying at Mandalay Bay.
