I’m not going to lie. Between races, travelling and generally being a shirt whore, I have about 45 million t-shirts. I typically wear maybe 5 of them.
That said, I am here to tell you – I have a new favorite shirt from I Am Funny Shirts, makers of unique, vintage and clever t-shirts.

Besides the fact that this running shirt looks great (I wear my best bra with it to maximize the appearance of the shirt), here’s what else I like:
- This shirt is SOFT and feels like you’ve already washed it a bunch of times
- The cut is feminine, not boxy. The men’s shirts are all crew neck.
- The saying is cute and funny and might even start a conversation or two
- Although the colors available in the shirts are limited, I LOVE the color of this one – the navy lettering on turquoise works well.
- My only complaint is that they do not offer an “Itty Bitty Titty Committee” shirt
I’ve researched a bit on the background of this company and here’s what I’ve found:
All shirts are printed in New Orleans. The founders refer to their shirts as the “Rolls-Royces” of t-shirts. They are a bit more expensive than your typical t-shirt (right now, about $23 + $5 shipping), but are great quality, are all made in the US and have printing that will not crack or fade over time. Lastly, some of the proceeds of each shirt go to the “Good Goes Around Fund” which helps to support those trying to start their own businesses.

ReplyDeleteI forgot to say: during my first (and only so far) 1/2 marathon, what got me through my last 2 miles (after I ruptured my plantar fascia-I know, I should have stopped) was a sign being held by a spectator: "Only 13.1, so you're only HALF crazy"

ReplyDeleteMy favorite shirt is a black t I got at a 5K a few years back. It wasn't a particularly awesome race or anything, but it's got big bold lettering on it in yellow, red and white that covers the entire front. It just looks kinda cool. So I end up wearing it almost every weekend.

My favorite shirt is from my PR half marathon. I associate it with good memories and it fits me well. I actually don't love the design, but the other aspects outweigh that.

Given my most recent conversation with my running friends (yesterday afternoon, group run, 100+ degrees in Arizona and high humidity - hello monsoon season!), my number one choice is: Got the Runs. Yes. I am not afraid to make fun of myself. I have to wake up 1.5 hours before my morning runs to empty the tank and I only hope that I will not have the runs while running. How appropro! However, I also love "I thought they said RUM", "Will run for wine" (cuz I LOVE wine!), "Size Matters" and last, but not least...."Your pace or mine" - perfect for this single girl hoping to meet a cute single guy who enjoys running! ;P

ReplyDeleteThe trainwreck speaks to me because my SO have an inside joke that our thoughts are trains. He often asks if he can get off this roller coaster, or if there is anyone driving the train. So "trainwreck" made me think of the ups and downs in life.

ReplyDeleteMy current favorite shirt is a soft grey one I've had for over a decade, from some youth group thing I attended in high school. It's big enough to hide my fat days but not so big that it makes them worse. I dread the day that shirt gives up the ghost. So far so good.

ReplyDeleteI am training for my very first half right now, so the "Half Cray 13.1" is definitely resonating. Although the long runs on super humid days make it feel more than half cray. Also like the "Your Pace or Mine". Very cute.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite race shirt came from a local race 2 Aprils past that was sponsored my our state university for earth day. Love the green color and it has a footprint on the front with the appearance of the earth filling it. It is a unique and cool design, super soft as if it were washed like you have described, and although it is crew neck, it isn't boxy. I did the same race this past spring and love that shirt too. I am guessing same company/manufacturer. The color and logo just don't pop quite the same way as the first one.
It's fun to get a race shirt you can love. I have several that I really don't love...

ReplyDeleteLove the one you have one, but I haven't completed a marathon yet. 0.0 is awesome and also 13.1 half cray! I love the v-neck, too. A must have with running shirts!

ReplyDelete#2 - Definitely my worn out to the point of being nearly see-through Maryland soccer t-shirt that I've had for at least 15 years. Can't wear it in public anymore, but it is my go-to choice for lounging around.
I love "I thought they said rum." The "I run from Zombies" is pretty funny too.

ReplyDeletePeople that have to get attention from others that they run by wearing running t-shirts...well, I just can't relate. If I was to show up at the start of a 30 mile trail run with the word "run" anywhere on a t-shirt, I would have been laughed at and shunned by my fellow runners.

ReplyDeleteNot sure if you are asking for a brand of t-shirt or just my favorite t-shirt in general. My favorite are concert shirts - old and worn but very comfortable.
ReplyDeleteAs far as brand, I like the very reasonable Target Champion brand t-shirts to work out in.

My sister did the zombie run, so you can guess which shirt I'm going to get her. I'm a chronic procrastinator, so I like the "Running Late" shirt.
ReplyDeleteFollowed this shirt at the LA Marathon a few years ago: "I Thought they said RUM!" Kept me going strong for many miles. Along the same lines I like the Will run for wine shirt.

ReplyDeleteRight now, my fave tshirt is my finishers shirt from the Garry Bjorklund half marathon. It is my current PR and I feel strong when I wear it.
