Friday Favorites a Day Late Because I’m Busy

1. Favorite Photo That Made Me Look Twice.

2. Favorite Find. Found this on today’s run. Proof that running pays off and looking down when you run pays off because you find money and avoid dog crap.

3. Favorite Soup I Want To Make This Week. Creamy Chicken Tortilla Soup.

4. Favorite Lazy Moment. This is what I looked like last night at 4:30 p.m. Can you even call 4:30 p.m. “night”? Being in pajamas early is my most favorite thing and it seems to keep getting earlier. One of these days I will be eating lunch in my pajamas and dinner in bed while I drool and fall asleep. There was a day when it wasn't even cool to go out until 11pm. I am so glad those days are behind me. I like bed. And laying around. And TV.

5. Favorite Framed Quote:

6. Favorite Current Bucket List Item. Run Rim to Rim at the Grand Canyon (and remember to stay to the far left).

7. Favorite 2 Hours. We watched Elf last night. My friend, Erika, had never seen it, which I would yell at her for, only I’ve never seen the Sound of Music. So there. And, I really don’t want to.

Syrup on spaghetti. Yes or no?

8. Favorite Use of Brick. This wall art seen at my new favorite pizza place in Longmont. I thought this was such a creative way to use the exposed brick. And to repurpose a beer bottle (left corner).

9. Favorite Run This Week. This trail run on Thursday which goes down in history as the most peaceful run ever. Not a touch of wind. Not another person out there (except the person who took this picture).

What’s a movie you’ve never seen that everyone else has seen? Sound of Music and anything Monty Python.

Favorite Christmas movie? Christmas Vacation.

Luckiest thing you’ve ever found on a run? A bathroom when I was desperate.

  1. I found a $20 on a run once. I kept it, then almost immediately got injured for 2 years. So that was bad luck. I should go throw $20 back on the ground where I found it.

    3. I found a $100 bill in the gutter while running on vacation (2 summers ago at Tybee Island GA). It was awesome-took the family out to eat.

  5. Key West Half.

    Die Hard.
I'm with you on the bathroom thing. I found one in a random field one time, shining like a beacon!

  6. You will love the R2R2R- most people do it in October. It's really crowded then because of all the yellow Aspens. I would recommend to try and wait until the last week of October or the first week of November. Spring would be good too...although it could be kind of chilly. Are you doing it with people or alone? You will never forget it when you do! (PS make hotel reservations soon...Oct. for most of next year is already probably sold out if you are planning on staying in the park.)

  7. I have actually found money twice when running. Both times, identifying the owner was impossible (along side the road in a desolate area and the second in a downpour after a race waiting for a friend to cross the finish line and I was all alone.).

The first time I kept it and bought a coffee after the run. The second time, I handed it to a little girl who was standing with her father waiting for mom to cross the line. I thought they deserved some reward for the drenching in the rain (I asked dad first).

  9. Usually I'm done running by this time in the winter and I start cross country skiing. But, this year, I realized I was 100 miles away from running 1000 miles this year. So, that is what I'm shooting for, getting in my last 100 miles so I can say I ran 1000 miles this year. And now I'm curious what your highest mileage year is?

  10. Tell me on thing on your running bucket list: NYC marathon

What’s a movie you’ve never seen that everyone else has seen? I have never seen Sound of Music either and have no desire.

    Favorite Christmas movie? Love Actually

Luckiest thing you’ve ever found on a run? I have never found anything lucky on a run. I did find my 80-some year old neighbor who had fallen on ice and couldn't get back up once when walking my dog.

  14. Bucket list run: Always wanted to run on the Great Wall of China. Not the marathon though...I kicked that off when I realized I might die.
I've never seen Titanic...I had a nightmare about it and one of my kids and have no interest ever. Also, no Monty Python here either.
Favorite Christmas movie: Love Actually. Pretty freakin' happy. It's a Wonderful Life is a close second.
I never find anything...I find pennies and nickels. This is why I love pennies. They feel lucky to me.

  19. Just a quick comment on the bucket lists above that mention NYC, Boston, and Western States ... only because I've run them all. Western States is most certainly at the top of my list, with Boston a close second and NYC a (very) distant third.

    1. Sound of Music is one of my favorite movies too!! I read Maria's autobiography years ago. They really changed her story, but I still love the movie!! I've never seen Elf. Favorite Christmas movie is tie between White Christmas and It's a Wonderful Life.

  24. I found $20 once free and clear, and then I also found $20 near a driver's license. Found the owner of the license (who was on vacation) after a long search and gave her the $20 - from the look on her face it wasn't hers to begin with, but she didn't admit it or even offer the $20 as a reward! Next time I'm keeping the $20.

  25. Listen, you really need to shape up on this movie watching thing. I understand the Sound of Music(yes, you should still see it, it's very good), but nothing Monty Python? This is a travesty for a woman with a great sense of humor! It's just, as Charles Barkley would say, Turrble.
