What To Read On The Beach

This post has nothing to do with running.

I am going to Mexico on Sunday. I am going to lay my ass on the beach and keep the bartenders busy. I need some book suggestions. Do you have a favorite beach book? It doesn't have to be chick lit (I'd kinda prefer it wasn't) and it doesn't have to be light and airy, but not so heavy I will go into a depression. I know you guys have some favorites. Please give me your top three!

And while we're on the subject of travel - what can't you live without when you leave town? For me it's my earplugs and a good book (and these days, my running shoes).

  1. Oh oh oh.
I just read a book called "The Red Tent." Very interesting.
"Running with Scissors" is fun too - if you like crazy people.

  2. I always have to travel with bananas. Even if I'm going to some place where they actually grow bananas, I'll only eat my Nebraska bananas. I even have a holder to make sure they don't get smashed.

    Have a great trip!

  3. I'm right there with you on the earplugs! I always bring some nutritious snacks, too.

Have you read the Twilight series? It's super addicting and really easy and entertaining reading. Perfect for a leisurely vacation! I read almost two of the four books on my flights to and from Houston in February.

    Have a great trip!

  4. Have a great trip!!!! I hope you do keep those bartenders busy.

Lately I have only been reading running stuff like 50/50 and Running for Mortals.

I always bring my running shoes and headphones.

  5. I agree with P.O.M. that The Red Tent (by Anita Diamant) is really good. I also like anything by Chris Bohjalian.

    Have a great trip!
