Favorite realization:
I’m not perfect, but I am doing the best that I can, so I don’ t have to beat myself up.
Favorite email I got this week (from reader Dawn. These messages make me want to keep blogging):
Favorite screen that starts today:
Favorite book right now:
Favorite upcoming challenge: 100 mile bike ride tomorrow (have I told you lately how much I love being on my bike? Well, not for 100 miles because that makes my crotch hurt, but just in general).
Favorite getaway (going here Sunday):
Favorite combo (especially on the bike, but good any time):
Favorite girls’ night this week (Saw this with Emma and her friends last night. Was not allowed to sit with them. Theater was so crowded I had to sit in handicap seat. I have never experienced 100 teenage girls sobbing in a theater before):
Favorite mess in my house (this is the “dump” room ((not because we take dumps in here)). Used to be a playroom for Emma and now is where everything is thrown that no one knows what to do with. Please tell me you have a room in your house that looks like this):
Favorite disgusting snack (that I always bring to Vegas for late night munchies and put on Ritz crackers):
Favorite bizarre thing I saw in Cosmo magazine this week while at the hair salon (I dare you to go to the web site, I haven’t yet. I think this was in a Q&A with a doctor or something):
That’s all I got.
Give me one of your interesting favorites from the week. C’mon, you know you have one.
Favorite book right now?
Last movie you saw?
Favorite late night gross snack?
SUAR
Barney Butter = my crack.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to do a Century Ride. Last ride was 16 miles and yes, my nether regions hurt.
ReplyDeleteI am reading Unbroken. Very appropriate for D-Day. Angelina Jolie is directing the movie but I guess I'll watch see it anyway.
Last movie, sad to say, was either THe Hunger Games or The Hobbit. Whichever came out last.
This makes me a very sad person. Unless you count at home and it was October Sky which still makes me a very sad person.
Interesting favorite….I'm an OT in rehab. It is all very interesting and either includes naked people or poop. :)
Book: Just started Defending Jacob and it's grabbed me from the start (somewhat rare)
ReplyDeleteMovie: Dallas Buyers Club - raw but good!
Snack: Hmmmm I can get pretty creative with whatever is on hand.
My favorite book is The Fault in Our Stars. I want to wait to see the movie so I can cry in private.
ReplyDeleteJust took my daughter to see Maleficent. Really good!
ReplyDeleteI have a room like your "dump" room.....it's called my living room.
Late night snacks....I'm all about sugar. Ice cream lately since it's been hot.
When we were in Florida in March, I saw a clinic for cosmetic gynecology. A new medical specialty that I didn't know existed. Troubling, tho, I actually have teenage girls coming to see me for labial cosmetic concerns.
ReplyDeleteLast movie: Moms' Night Out. Perfect for the stage of life I'm in.
ReplyDeleteFavorite books right now: the Savannah Reid series. Light reading is what I need these days.
My daughter has the same play kitchen that's in your Dump Room.
Favorite thing was my daughter coming home from Arizona this week. Book I'm reading now is "What Makes Olga Run?" I just saw Maleficent with my daughter and SIL. It was awesome! And my favorite late night snack is a bowl of hummus and crackers. :)
ReplyDeleteWe totally have a room that looks like that, too. I am glad to know that I am not alone!
ReplyDeleteThank, thank, thank you for sharing your dump room - so glad to know it is normal. Actually, my dump room is also my yoga room, so I have a mat and blocks and gear smashed in with all the junk!
ReplyDeleteMy Friday favorite is my cat. Every day he enthusiastically greets me at the door with unconditional love. He makes my day!
I really want to see The Fault In Our Stars this weekend or sometime soon. It looks like a good movie. I lol'd at your dump room, I think everyone has one of those. Gives you an excuse to keep it somewhat messy!
ReplyDeleteLOVED What Alice Forgot! I read it for my book club and have since read her other books The Husband's Secret and The Hypnotist's Love Story. Both quite good.
ReplyDeleteJust read The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes and love it! It was definitely a favorite of the week. (Also by her: Me Before You. SOOO good.)
Another favorite was going to the chiropractor today - saw a different one in the office and LOVED him. He's a personal trainer also and so we totally geeked out on running and strength talk. So helpful. And he complimented my muscle and flexibility. :) Oh, and he make my back and neck go all snap, crackle, pop which was heavenly. As was his Australian accent.
Last movie: Million Dollar Arm. I do love me a baseball movie. And now I have a crush on Jon Hamm. HELLO. (Note to self: Watch Mad Men. STAT.)
Favorite late night snack: Kettle potato chips. I can't help it. I get home from work at midnight and neeeeeed them.
Warning: Mad Men might ruin your crush on Jon Hamm...just sayin'. ;)
DeleteWatermelon + Cacao post run shake! Having one right now.
ReplyDeleteI love What Alice Forgot! Good choice. :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the significance is of the 30 tally marks in the egg?
ReplyDeleteLoving OITNB but pacing ourselves for the IM taper in a week...I wanna be Red. Fave IM training snack is frozen mars bars and coffee. Racing with a good buddy fighting metastatic breast disease in mind...cause she is still swimming in masters meets during chemo...chapeau dear friend...
ReplyDeleteI feel like I need to qualify this next sentence by saying it's a RARE treat. We love to squirt (awful word) the easy cheese into Buggles.
ReplyDeleteI saw The Fault in Our Stars last night! I'm a huge fan of the book, and I was definitely one of those girls tearing up, haha. The theater I saw it in was really small, and after it was over the room was just silent and someone whispered, "Jesus Christ." which broke the tension and everybody laughed. It was such a good movie!
ReplyDeleteI too experienced the theater full of crying girls (and I may have also been one of them). I loved the book and was afraid the movie wouldn't do it justice but it so did.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting for the release of Diana Gabaldon's new book Written In My Own Heart's Blood. She is a great writer and I can't wait to see what happens with all the cliffhangers the last book left.
Favorite realization: School is over. Which means the "no drinking alcohol on school nights" rule is over, too.
ReplyDeleteI saw TFIOS on opening night. Aside from the awkwardness of seeing about half my female students (I teach 8th grade), it was hard to take the serious parts seriously because of the surround sound of sobbing teenage girls. It was a unique experience.
ReplyDeleteYES!! My experience exactly!
DeleteMy favorite thing this week? Getting my daughter hooked on your blog. Second favorite thing? That picture of you on your bike. Sheer joy!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing this week so far has been spending time watching my two nieces! We went to the movies in the morning to a kids viewing and swimming!!
ReplyDeleteFav recovery technique- ice baths. Which is why I have been sitting in a large paella dish full of ice water in a desperate attempt to cure my soreness in my glutes (very sore, almost the cant-sit-on-the-potty kind) because tomorrow morning I have a duathlon. I stupidly went to a new endurance strength class yesterday and it didn't dawn on me that I use my ass in such a class- hence, desperate recovery attempts so I can ride and run tomorrow! Even took a great pic (PG) just for you but don't see where I can attach it! Looks like something you would appreciate though....
ReplyDeleteMy achievement this week, along with running a 5K today in Africa heat (came in and in my age group...ok, there were only 2 in my group), was not becoming raging alcoholic from listening to my almost 15 yr old boy school his almost 13 yr old brother in the fine art of being a stud. There are times it is best for me just to stay in the backgaround and listen. They wouldn't believe me anyway....
ReplyDeleteI don't really have a gross snack, but I love eating chocolate chips late night. Yum!
ReplyDeleteBook: On the edge of nowhere by jim huntington about life in Alaska during the early 1900s. Movie: Avatar the cartoon season 2. Snack: It's not gross but yogurt raisins
ReplyDeleteWonderfully creative use for a gate! Like you, it takes me awhile to get things done but it's always worth the wait. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteCreative DIY Shelf Safe Your Money
I love cheese in a can! I haven't had it in awhile, but it is yummy on a triscuit
ReplyDeleteI'm also loving..well sort of ...kettlebell classes..It is killing me, but in a good way..not in a funeral sort of way :)

ReplyDeleteThe book I just read and then re-read was "Code name Verity" it's a young adult book but great. Set in WWII about 2 girls that are best friends and involved in the war, worth the read.
ReplyDeleteLast movie I saw in the theater was Godzilla...I know I got out voted...have to say not bad. At least for a movie about a big lizard that comes out of the ocean to save earth from a giant alien flying spider like thing...ya never mind.
Fav late night snack. If I am on the fat train and don't give a rats it would have to be ruffles (and dip if we have it) nothing says cellulite like chips and dip.
3 more days left until schools out...Lord help me...
Last Movie: Million Dollar Arm. Really lovely, heartwarming flick.
ReplyDeleteBooks I've read recently: Daring Greatly and The Big Book of Endurance Training and Racing - both life altering!
Good luck on the century ride Beth!
That email? Wow. That's what it's all about isn't it? I have a dump room too - supposed to be the guest bedroom but it's piled up with clothes I think I'm somehow going to sell that I really just need to donate.
