- I feel like a school girl when I wear them. I used to love me some knee highs.
- The squeezing effect promotes blood circulation, which is supposed to give us more energy.
- If I want to wear shorts, but it’s cold, they provide that extra bit of warmth.
- They come in many colors and styles. These from SLS3 have butterflies. Butterflies can symbolize our souls. I like wearing my soul on my socks. It makes me faster.
- They provide UV protection!
- They reduce lactic acid!
- If you are flying on a plane with a kid kicking your seat and a tray table full of e-coli, you can wear these and they just might keep you from cramping up or getting a fatal blood clot.
- They look cool. I feel fast when I wear them. Even if I’m not.
- If you are running in the jungle or in high weeds, they can protect your legs from scratches and abrasions.
- If you are a clean freak, you will like the fact that dirt from the road or trail collects on your socks and not on your legs.

ReplyDeleteI love compression socks. I don't know if there is positive proof that they work either, but I believe they do. I wear them for most of my runs, and you're right, it probably is the only time for an over 40 runner like myself to wear hot pink knee socks and a pleated skirt and get away with it.
ReplyDeleteI love compression socks and wear them for all my long runs, races and recovery. I've never tried SLS3 but would love to!

ReplyDeleteI am a true believer in compression. To celebrate my 40th birthday a couple of weeks ago I ran two marathons in 24 hours, back to back days, wearing compression socks during my runs and compression for recovery. I had a 5 hour drive between events and had to rush to make it to the packet pickup for the second one. It was an truly epic experience that was made even better by a staff member of the Cleveland Marathon. She had my wife at the finish line with a birthday cupcake, something I will not soon forget!

ReplyDeleteI love compression gear for running, but also for long car and plane trips. When I was pregnant, I used compression socks for car trips and it made a world of difference in the level of swelling that I had in my ankles and legs after the trip. (I also bought compression pantyhose for especially long trips. Those were a bit of a pain to wear and were expensive, but worth every penny.)
