Nation's Capital

Today's run: 7.02 miles/1 hour/8.41 pace

The thing (or one of the things) I love about running is you can do it anywhere. Just remember to pack the shoes, Ipod, Garmin, shorts and you're off. This weekend I am visiting D.C. and took a run on a trail that runs from N. Virginia to downtown. I ran 7 miles on this trail and enjoyed the change of scenery and people from Colorado. Do you run when you travel? If so, do you brave the streets and trails or use the hotel gym for your workout?

  1. I love running in new places - a great way to explore and see things you probably wouldn't otherwise. And with Garmin, it's so easy to satisfy the fanatic inner runner who MUST know how far I've gone. :)

  2. love to run when i travel, always outside unless the weather is bad....sometimes, depending on the location of the hotel, an outdoor run can be difficult...but, it's fun to explore new areas that way....

  3. Ditto the other comments here -- running while out of town is a great way to see the area. I always pack my shoes and a set of running clothes. I have no Garmin, so I usually just pull up a Google map and then figure it out as I go -- it's part of the adventure!

  4. Love running out of town when I find a good place. It puts a positive light on the whole trip. You found one of the great things about NoVA .....good trails.

  7. Oh, it's the best way to learn about the place you are visiting! I've ran in DC and loved it. I ran on the trail from Maryland to DC, and also in DC itself... It was great!
