Recovery Day

What a perfectly spectacular day today of recovery and debauchery in Boston. No, I did not hit up the local whore houses. I slept in, awoke to rain and gray skies. Shuffled my way into the kitchen for a couple cups of strong coffee, then walked do Dunkin' Donuts for 25 munchkins. The lady gave me 30. She must of thought I was looking a bit worn out and malnourished from yesterday.

Took a shower and donned my highlighter-yellow Boston shirt.  Because I'm proud and I'm going to ram it down everyone's throat until I can think of something else cool to talk about. Maybe I'll break my spine and come back to win the Tour de France.

We hit the science museum and ate at Legal Seafoods for dinner. Bedtime and up early tomorrow for our flight back to Denver. What an amazing, inspiring, family filled weekend.

Race report coming soon.

  8. Sounds like Boston recovery is hard work. If you want the full Boston experience you should try some Illegal Seafoods. Actually ... based on some of your prior posts maybe you should stick with the Legal version. Congrats on crossing the finish line in more ways than one.

  10. Oh please don't break your back...you could do the Tour de France sans spine injury :)
Love the shirt on ya! Highlighter yellow is your colour. Definitely would work for the leader shirt in France!

  12. Perfect on recovery day. Will you wear your shirt like the girl does on the Middle? She wore her cross country shirt forever, like on every episode this season. I think I wore my medal from my first race FOREVER...Gotta BRAG!

Could I borrow your shirt? Why not...It would be cool if people though I ran Boston! Come on?

  13. It looks as if a weight has been lifted off your shoulders, this year as I've followed your blog you seemed to be fighting the world. OK your lack of running due to injury, and the Boston start line. Now seeing you standing there in yellow your fight is over and YES you won the battle. I hope the rest of your "fights" will now be with the finish line...

  20. I think you've earned the right to rub it in for a while longer. Maybe you can wash the shirt some night when you're sleeping? I assume you'll wear it every day until next year's edition?

  35. I have one of those highlighter yellow shirts also; we'll wear them having our post-injury margaritas :) (just learned that every other year they alternate between the yellow and the blue shirts. Who knew? Obviously not me!). Glad you had a great time!

  36. I have no doubt that if you broke your spine you would be racing the Tour De France....that is how tough you are.

Will you ever take that shirt off? I wouldn't. As a matter of fact in every race I ran from there on out I would wear that shirt. 95* in August for a 5k I am wearing that shirt. 4* for a 1/2 marathon in February I am wearing that shirt.

Wear it with pride my friend.

LOVE your yellow shirt!! Wear it and be proud!! :D

  38. That is one bright t shirt. It'd be perfect for running in the dark with. You wouldn't even need to wear a safety light.

  39. While we all really hope you don't break your spine, I Do believe you come back and win TDF after it. No. Doubt.

    Rock that crazy-yellow!

  40. Babe, you earned that shirt! (and the extra 5 munchkins....) If I am fortunate enough to be able to obtain such a shirt for myself, I think I'd wear it day and night until it was in tatters.

  41. Your shirt is awesome!(and great for any nighttime running you want to do :>)
    So proud of your comeback!!

  42. I would love to eat some Dunkins. Sounds so good. So does the seafood. Yes. I'm hungry!

  43. Went to the marathon to cheer on friends and saw you at the 110% exhibit. Wear that shirt loudly and proudly! Even watching the marathon from the first wheelchair to the poor woman who did more than shart herself (of course I was the ass with the "we won't judge you if you crap your pants" sign nat around mile 23), to the woman who had a boyfriend/husband/brother in jeans running next to her to encourage her along. It was an incredible sight to see and really brought out the purest of human spirit.

    Congratulations!
