Better Than Viagra?

Guess what I got in the mail today? No, not some new mascara, but you like it don't you? I also didn't get a manual on exercises you can do for uneven eyes, but according to this picture, I need something like that.

Actually, Pom Wonderful, makers of the only brand of 100% authentic pomegranate juice, sent me a case of free samples (8-8 oz bottles) to try (this is the part of the blog where I am disclosing that I received something for free). They also sent some info on the history of pomegranate juice and the health benefits of said juice. Having never studied pomegranates and their magical powers in history class, this was all news to me. Here's what immediately caught my eye:
  • Those drinking 8 oz. of 100% pomegranate juice daily for four weeks were 50% more likely to experience erectile improvement. Thank God. My erections just aren't what they used to be.
But seriously, one of the main benefits of this juice is that hundreds of scientific tests also show POM to be a superior source of antioxidants, with more potent antioxidants than red wine, grape juice, blueberry juice, cranberry juice, green tea, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Yowza!

I am still sticking to red wine as a health drink, well, because I am a self described WINE-O and this gives me a darn good excuse. BTW, anyone ever drink blueberry juice? Anyone ever seen it? Am I missing something? It's not right by the Tropicana, that's for sure. Those poor souls who make blueberry juice must have the tiniest fingers in order to squeeze all those little berries.

Another advantage of POM? Big time friend of the cardiovascular system. Better blood flow (remember the erect penis?) and an overall decrease in arterial plaque.

The basic nutrition facts for an 8oz serving:

150 calories
520mg potassium
40g carbs
32g sugar

It packs a lot of stuff into that small bottle. And the price reflects that. I beleive a 16 oz bottle in the store is about $4.50.

Now about taste. This stuff is strong, but in a good way. Kind of like how Popeye is strong. Very concentrated. It actually does taste a little like wine to me, but I don't find myself hanging off chandeliers or streaking after I drink it. I enjoy the taste, but for some it might be over powering and take some getting used to. It starts out kind of sweet and ends with a tart finish.

Overall, I like the Pom Wonderful. I probably wouldn't drink it everyday because I'm not a big juice fan and it's too expensive. But it does boast some amazing health benefits and the bottles are pretty dang cute. I give it two erections thumbs up!

Drinking: Duh! Pom Wonderful. Didn't you read my blog?

I have yet to try it. It's so expen$ive and if I'm gonna spend money to drink something other than water it's gotta have alchol in it.

  5. I've seen those little bottles of POM in the store, but I've never thought to pick one up until about a month ago when I found a recipe for pomegranate poppy seed salad dressing. It is delicious salad dressing by the way! My kids don't get much juice but they loved it (diluted with some water of course) too!

  12. I love pomegranates - those little seeds are soooooo juicy. I actually have one sitting on the counter - just waiting for me. And I love the juice - well actually only with vodka. IMO - the best Cosmo's are made with pomegranate juice instead of cranberry juice. YUM!!!!

Might make one tonight. ;-) and I LOVE red wine - but red always gets my hot flashes going - but what is a girl to do.

  14. If it weren't for you I never would've tried Greek Yogurt. Addicted now. Seen POM all over, never tried. NOW might be the time. Better than Wheat Grass? I never did take the OJ chaser they offered after it. Sounds like the only chaser will be Ken after you drink it. What's next. Cialis and ShutUPandRun. And when DO they get out of that effing tub?

  16. I like juice but not so much drinking calories! I'd rather eat the fruit whole. So I doubt I'll try it.

Now I'll remember to tell hubbs about it's wonderful benefits...maybe over our weekend out of town. (oh yeah the kiddos are coming too. oh well)

  17. Didn't you know that Oopma Loopmas make blueberry juice? I guess their fingers ARE small (but if they were drinking POM juice, not everything would be small...)

  22. POM does have a strong taste. I like to mix about 1/4 of a small bottle into protein drinks. I also like it for certain sauces.
And I like it most when it comes for FREE to my house! :)

  26. Thanks for my daily giggle...

I love this stuff but I'm too cheap to buy it regularly.

(HEY POM< WANNA SEND ME SOME?)

I's used it to make a salad vinaigrette, which is super yummy too!

  27. I am not original, I am an accountant, and contrary to popular belief, we are not the life of the party. With that being said, mix it with vodka and I am sure the streaking you experience with wine will be sure to follow! (like everyone already said - I'm a little late to the ShutUpAndRun party) And Trader Joe's sells blueberry juice (also good with vodka and also mentioned by someone else) and it is around the same price of their other juices even though I am sure the labor costs involved for paying the people to squeeze the tiny fruit is astronomical (that's the accountant talking again)!

  28. I'm amazed that it says that on the packaging. How did they test that? Line up men and have them drink the juice? Did they have a control group? Was there a certain time period they measured to count as a success? I could go on. These are all questions inquiring minds want to know.
