My New Secret

I smell, but we all knew that. What with all the gas and potty stops along my runs, sometimes I’m not so fresh. But,what you might not know, is that I have an underarm issue as well. I don’t sweat much, but somehow my B.O. is horrendous. You would think I was an overweight hairy man mowing the lawn in 100 degree heat (okay that might be a bit of an exaggeration). I have never had much luck controlling the stench. Sometimes I use my 12 year old’s Axe, but then I end up smelling like my son or some cheesy guy in a bar trying to make moves on college girls.

I am happy to say that with my new discovery, my days of smelling like your old gym locker are gone. Finito. secretclinical

The trick? Secret Clinical Sport. This stuff is the cat’s meow (did you know the expression “cat’s meow” also means, “A heterosexual woman who is very popular amongst or attractive to lesbians?). Maybe wearing Secret Clinical Sport will make me attractive to lesbians. I don’t know. Time will tell. This would certainly be a bonus and one secret should put on their label.

So…the deal with this deodorant that makes it different, (aside from the active ingredient Aluminum Zirconium Trichlorohydrex in the highest level in any OTC deodorant), is you are supposed to put it on at night before bed. it works its magic all night long and seeps into your pores. You do not apply the next day even if you shower.

I know. Weird. I’m just telling you what it says to do.

It also advises to “apply to underarms only,” which is too bad because I had some other places I wanted to put it. Oh, get your mind out of the gutter.

I put this secret to the test today when I went out for a hot 16 mile run. You know how when you run you get whiffs of yourself every now and then? The air moves just right through your clothing or under your arm or up from your lady/man area and you take in a smell of yourself.  Sometimes it’s enough to stop you in your tracks. I am thrilled to report that each whiff I got (and there were many of them on the long and windy run) were pleasant!! At least those whiffs coming from the underarms. Maybe someday they’ll come up with a Secret Clinical Strength for your shorts.

Secret did not send me this stuff to review. I just love it and it has improved my life. I wanted to share. I know it came out a couple of years ago and I’m late to the party, but better late than never. I probably never tried it because it’s about double the price of regular deodorant/antiperspirants. I paid $5.99 for it on sale at Target. I think it’s usually about $7.50. Also, for some reason it sits on the highest shelf in the store. I tend to look eye level or lower. I need to break out of that habit.

If you want to try it for free, click HERE for a sample.

  1. I'm sure "Secret" will be using your "it has improved my life" quote in their marketing!

I don't know if we can get it here "Down Under" (possibly the wrong phrase given the topic) but it looks like the sort of product I could use on my backpack - it absolutely stinks. (That said it keeps me running just to get away from the stench.) The trouble is while I wash myself regularly, my pack may only get a couple of washes a year, as I use it most days and there isn't time to clean and dry the pack before it's needed again.

It doesn't meet the "use underarms only" criteria, so I won't be able to lodge a lawsuit if it doesn't work on the pack!

    Great stuff as always

  2. I have serious B.O., too and I've never heard of this! I totally want to try it. I clicked the free sample link, which took me to the Wal-Mart page, but it wouldn't go through. Oh well -- I'll just buy it. Thanks for the find!

  3. 1. Aluminum Zirconium Trichlorohydrex is linked to an increased risk of certain cancers and also Alzheimer's disease.

    2. Secret is made by Procter & Gamble, one of the most horrific animal testing manufacturers out there.

I'll take a little BO... lol

  4. Definitely something I'm interested in. Wonder if there are any restrictions for use? (I see a dermatologist regularly for skin issues that affect my underarms, too)I'll have to read the box first, but sounds like a great product!

  12. I tried this stuff when it first came out (the dude version). I would always forget it before I went to bed and found that it didn't work very well if you put it on in the morning.

plus, I'm a stomach sleeper so it got all over the sheets

  15. I tried a similar product a few years ago and didn't sweat a drop for a week, which kinda scared me. Isn't it healthy to sweat? There have been links made between the aluminum ingredient and parabens found in some antiperspirants and breast cancer. I'd rather be a little sweaty/smelly!

  16. I have the Degree clinical strength...it's NOT the same :P Gonna try the secret one. Everyone does Animal testing or did in the past or uses contents that they may not be testing personally but that HAVE been tested on animals; Im not condemning them. And if my deoderant is now going to be the cause of my cancer SIGH among a million other things, Bring on the party. Something is going to kill me ;)

  17. Might have to try this one! And you've been tagged for Happy 101 award!

  18. This stuff doesn't make you not sweat. It just makes you not smell. In any event, even if I'm not sweating under my arms that's a small percentage of my entire body which is sweating profusely. As for causing cancer, I've heard a mixed bag on that issue being linked to deoderant. Depends what you read and believe I guess.

  21. After you shower, put some rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball and scrub your underarms, then apply antiperspirant and /or deodorant if you want. I read about it on line and I can't believe how well it worked!

  22. I use this stuff too! I recommend if you are well endowed to put it the night before a race under the breasts to eliminate sweating, less chaffing due to sweat

  23. I'm late to the party but I wanted to share my eperience with a similar product. It gave me JOCK ITCH (and I'm a chick). Because my horrifically sweaty armpits were prevented from doing their usual, I began sweating more everywhere else, like my crotch. Thus: jock itch. Just a fair warning...
