One Job I Probably Won’t Ever Have

Last night. Kohl's. 6:57 pm.

P1130017

This summed it up well. Ugh. (But, what’s he complaining about? It only took me 11 minutes – don’t you love how I say I’ll let him know when I’m done at 7:07 and at 7:07 he asks if I’m done? Such a kid).

I hate bra shopping. Mostly because nothing fits right and the only bra I really like is at Victoria’s Secret and costs as much as my weekly grocery bill. You should not have to spend so much to hold your boobs up and in place. I do keep shrinking, and am now a voluptuous “A” cup. Don’t be jealous. There was a time in my breastfeeding days when I was a triple D cup – well, maybe it was a C. I just know it was handfuls bigger than where things are now.

One breath of fresh air for me in the breast department is Kelly Ripa.

She and I are probably about the same size breast-wise (she actually maybe be smaller than I am). Kelly has all the money in the world ($20 million per year I just read) and total celeb status, but she has not had a boob job. She flaunts what she has and wears tasteful clothes that show off her less than full figure. Although, I do doubt she wears my favorite brands: Mossimo and Xhiliaration.

I honestly don’t think I would get a boob job because I think life is easier with less breast weight to carry around, especially while running.  I have never once had a black eye. Yes, a day or two of cleavage would be nice, but I don’t see it happening for me. I have no problem with others doing it, though. Actually, it makes for some fun people watching. Bottom line for me  - I am very active and they just get in the way. I have to say my favorite and most comfortable bras are my sports bras.

I did buy two bras last night and I hate them. I thought it would be okay, but after wearing it for 4 hours, I’m cranky because it’s uncomfortable. Do you get pissy when something is too tight or loose or just doesn’t feel right on your body? That’s what I get for buying cheap bras at Kohl’s. Back to VS to be fitted properly and to spend all of my wine money.

News flash!! So, did you hear the about this? Not only is Jillian returning to the Biggest Loser in January, but the show will now have young’uns on it. Yes, there will be several contestants who are ages 13 to 18. They will not be up for elimination and they also will not be eligible to win the $250K.

I’m not sure how I feel about this. Part of me loves that they are tackling the subject of childhood obesity, but part of me wishes they made that a different show.

One thing I am loving is that this is coming back:

Let’s just hope they don't ask him to swim (did you see Stars Earn Stripes? Dolvett got kicked off during the first episode because he sank to the bottom of a lake. C’mon dude, really?).

Boob jobs – yes or no?

What do you think of changes to TBL?

Are you glad Jillian’s back? Yes, I’m a Jillian fan. Although I’m confused why she even left in the first place.

  1. No boob job!!! Growing up I was so skinny and had no chest...and wished and wished for boobs. Now that I've finally 'grown' into my own (all natural btw) I hate it. Sports (especially running) suck with boobs. :)
I've had good luck with some bras from Target actually....I too got fed up with paying the ridiculous prices at VS.
Glad to see Jillian back on BL (and Dolvett too) but not sure about the teen part incorporated in...I think that is setting them up for some serious issues.

  2. I think Jillian left the show because her girlfriend had a baby and they adopted another. I am not sure how I feel about the teens on the show, but I think that the concept is a healthy one. Hopefully motivate a younger demographic to get active who had a hard time before.

A boob job- yes, I would take one in a heart beat! And I hate bra shopping too.

  3. Absolutely not! I am a mammographer and I can tell you stories about the 70 yr olds with implants that are on their chest while the boobs are down to their knees!!! Am I am 100% serious!!!

  4. Are you serious? I can't believe a runner would ask fellow runners that question! I have small breasts but I do pushups and swim and weights so appear bigger and fill out my bras just fine thankyou very much. You can't RUN with IMPLANTS!!!!

    1. I have many friends who unfortunately have had breast cancer and have had mastectomies. Many have had implants done as part of reconstruction and they are runners and triathletes.

    2. I'm a runner & I have breast implants. Love 'em. Wouldn't change anything about them. To each their own.

    3. You can run with implants. Not everyone gets DDD.

    4. I run with implants and have since 2009! I had no choice but to have recon using implants since I didn't have enough of my own tissue to make tramflaps. My surgeon told me it would take a year for them to be normal enough that I didn't "notice" them, and he was right on the money! And mine are a "DD". Wanted to go back to what I was pre-surgery, and no one except a select few knew I was even having the surgery done. And my SUAR shirt is nicely filled out thank you very much!!!

    5. I lost my boobs to the big C as well and have silicon implants. I was an A and am now probably a C. I actually think they are too big for me, but since I never (yes, I mean NEVER) have to wear a bra and they don't go anywhere, I am not bothered enough to have another surgery to swap them out for something smaller. Unfortunately, some of us don't have an option to run without implants.

  5. No to a boob job. When I was pregnant and my A's grew to C's, I hated them. I looked like a monster! haha, they looked so ridiculous on me and I'm glad they went away. Besides, for some reason I feel like a bad ass with my flat boobs in a sports bra. For some reason, it makes me feel more athletic. :)

    1. Plant me here. After being a C to D with kids and fat and pregnant and 12 some years of breastfeeding, I got fit and am an A to a B. I think my 12yo daughter is closing in on my fast. LOVE being flat and no movement when I run. Don't miss the C to D at all.

  6. After getting pregnant, I have big boobs and I HATE them. Running is not nearly as fun. I'd go back to my previous B cup in a heartbeat.

I'll be interested to see how TBL goes, I'm glad Jillian is coming back.

  7. No way to the boob job. When I was nursing my girls and had huge (for me) C/D cuppers, I was absolutely mortified. They made running next to impossible and I really hated how I looked with a larger chest...On my frame I guess I just felt that they made me look matronly rather than sexy. Yeah, there are times when it's upsetting to see the top of a size 0 dress gaping and baggy, and on days when I'm feeling bloated it is a bit discouraging to feel like my stomach sticks out farther than my chest, but overall I'm happy with my small chest and would never consider implants.

Hurray to Jillian returning, but I'm not especially wild about the idea of teen contestants, either.

  8. No to boob jobs! I'm not even a full A but I honestly don't care...especially with being so active. All the other women on both sides (literally, all of them), have ginormous ta-ta's and I am left with nothing...and they tell me to be thankful that I do not have to lug around all that extra weight. I don't watch TBL so I cannot comment on that.

  9. I am a 30D and that is AFTER losing 15lbs. The ladies were more than a handful so I am SO very happy they've shrunk. Cause you're right they totally get in the way. Given that I am a not so common size, I have no choice but to drop a wad of cash at those specialty stores. I've gotten smart though. Once I find a bra that I like I'll pay the $ for one and then hunt some more down on eBay for a fraction of the price!

  10. I have to admit, I did get boobs. I had nice B's, until I began to run. Then I had AA's that looked like deflated balloons. I kept them to a reasonable size that I have not had a black eye while running, but they may help me in a triathlon! I could go back to no boobs though. If I had to trade wrinkles for boobs, I would give up wrinkles forever. Only my husband sees my bobs, but the world sees my face!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I have boobs. Quad Ds in fact. Yes, they do suck. God bless whoever created Moving Comfort sports bras. They rock and make running with "the girls" so much better!!

And yay for Jillian coming back to BL, but of they get rid of Dolvette because of cat fights between the trainers - I would gladly get rid of her to keep him!

    ReplyDelete
  12. I should clarify that they are all natural and I wouldn't wish them on anyone!

  13. Ugh thank you for posting about this!!! I have zero boobs and have never minded that much however my sister is getting a boob job next month and now I feel like shit next to her. It's nice to see all the small boob lovin' in the comments :)

  14. If you listen to Jillian Michaels podcast at all, she has talked about the reasons she left. She wanted to pursue other things, the producers were @$$holes (so she says), she worked all the time and was exhausted. combined with trying to start a family.

I'm glad to see her back, I love her!!

I'd LOVE some boobs!!! as a barely AA, I feel more like a teenage boy than a woman and I hate it. my husband claims he doesn't care, but it's really hard.

  15. Boob job never! I'm a large A/small B and that's plenty. I can't imagine running with obese ta-tas. I have enough pre-mature wrinkles on my face etc. and don't need any additional permanent indentations such as bra straps from holding the girls up and in.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Boob jobs. No, no, NO, a thousand times NO!!!! They very seldom look right, often they are too big. Yes, a guy, saying they are too big. Everything in proportion. And they don't move right either.

TBL. Je ne comprends pas. Besides, why would you talk about this, when there is boob discussion to be had? I never cease to be amazed at how hung up society is about boobs, and how much of them get shown off. Show too much and you're a slut or worse. Not enough and you're a prude. Yet almost everybody, except Republicans apparently, love boobs, and want more of them.

    Jillian who?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Boobs identify women as women. It's a fertility sign, like birting hips and smooth skin. We are hung up on them, because we have them and need them. My reconstruction surgery was done in proportion to my body, what I was prior to surgery and so that no one would know that I had it done. And you know what, no one knew.
If someone cut off your ear, you'd probably not want to show that off.

      Delete
    2. My comment didn't take into account reconstructive boob jobs, done as a followup to non-optional issues like cancer surgery. I totally understand the reasoning for those.

  17. No to extra boobs - When I started running I went down a full cup size and then some and am super happy! (D+ to a C). As for Jillian - why did she leave? I guess she wasn't as successful without the show....

  18. After being told I was "a pirates dream, because I had a sunken chest" I bought some boobs....went from AAA to a small C and I love my girls! I can finally wear a bikini without worrying about flashing people when I raise my arms and my top would slide up to my neck

  19. No boobs here either. I'm an A or AA cup. But I own several Wonderbras that I love. No way would I want to go under the knife for that, and then have to spend time recovering. It's not so much the vanity, but the surgery. No. Way.

  20. boob job....no and no. I had 4 surgeries already. I would never go under the knife for that..not a chance.

  22. I might get a boob lift. I don't want them bigger (already a D...which is starting to seem like it stands for 'deflated'), but a little perkier might be nice. That said, they are way awesome for a chick who's almost 50...nicer even than most MUCH younger women's who I've seen naked in the locker room. Yes, of course I look :P

I don't watch TBL but I like Jillian and Dolvett...so "yay" for the changes!

  23. I was once laughed at by a store lady at Victoria Secret... "We don't carry them that small..."*giggle* "Maybe we could order you one."

    Yeah... not. Never been back.

I am 20 pounds into losing the 40 I gained in the last few years, and for the first and only time in my life, I was a C cup. Guess it's back to the training bras.

  24. Be thankful you can shop at VS. I am a 34F and have to get bras from a local boutique, no bra is under $100. I would love a reduction but it scares the crap out of me. They make me look heavier than I am and it can be annoying while running. Not too mention the shoulder indentations and red marks. I agree that moving comfort sports bras are the best. I guess you should be happy with what your given, but not a day goes by without me wondering what it would be like.

  25. I'd like a boob job so my itter bitters don't look crossed eyed. One is staring straight ish ahead and the other is looking down and to left. But when I was nursing they sized me for an F cup. Yes. F as in Frank and I hated it! Hated every second! Not only were they huge and painful but I was always hot and getting things lost in them. Ugh ugh ugh. Now that i am A cup I'm kinda glad for the most part.
Also something about kids on the Biggest Loser makes me highly uncomfortable.

  26. I have clear memories of a teenage guy years ago telling me that no guy really needs more than a handful or mouthful. I don't know why he told this to little chested me, but the memory remains everytime I wonder if I'd want bigger boobs.

  27. I believe she left because she was in the adoption process. I can't remember but she may have ended up getting not just one but two babies...but don't quote me on that. :) I love her...I love her DVD's she's kick butt!

I have implants and with them come mixed feelings. I didn't go huge though just a full C. I didn't want them to be noticable, I just wanted to feel more feminine. Now that I run though, it seems a better idea to have stayed smaller. If I were Kelly Ripa I'd get small implants just for the fact that clothes fit better. I remember always being annoyed that my tops were baggy, I couldn't fill any swim suit out. Plus, my husbands pretty happy with them. He didn't really want me to get them but now that I have them he never wants me to get them out. Ha! I've created a monster. :) Jessica

  29. Even though I've small breasts (34A/B cup) in one running photo it looked as if my breasts were heading in different directions... (I definitely didn't buy that photo!) but now I've discovered Moving Comfort bras nothing moves at all & the double layer prevents the headlight effect as an added bonus.
I'm not keen on implants as I'm too concerned about possible complications/infections/long term effects, so I stick with push up padded bras even if it is false advertising. I'd rather spend my spare cash on Personal Training sessions/ running gear / race entry fees / physio etc than $big bucks on surgery.

  30. OMG - mine shrunk from the ample C to the boy A as well when I started running. And I too identify happily with Kelly Ripa. If she can rock a "boy body", then so can I !

  31. I used to be delightfully "athletic" and just when I really embraced my exquisiteness I gained 30 lbs and started really having to wear a bra (though since I didn't get my boobs until my mid 20s I can rock braless in more daring clothes like no one's business). I do fear they are starting to go away a bit and am hoping I can keep some of the firmness, totally worth it to be rid of that muffin top though.

If you have a smaller rib cage I HIGHLY recommend checking out European retailers and see what your UK size is. I swear by Figleaves.com

I usually measure as a 34B and the chest strap would be crawling up, the cups would be gapping in the front and yet somehow also pinching me on both sides of each breast. The proportion was just wrong for me. I have wide shallow perky boobs on a small frame so the band was too big, the cups were too narrow and deep. I now wear either a 32C or 30D (British sizing) and they actually FIT ME. I lurk Figleaves until they have a sale and buy a few bras at a time. Double bonus is that shipments form the US can be returned for free so you can get multiple sizes to try for size.

  32. I love my smaller boobies. I swelled to ginormous proportions on my 5'2" frame when my milk came in (up to DD, I think), and stayed a FULL D while BF-ing. By the end of her nursing days I was down to a C and now, finally, a B. I was never a B - not even when I first started to grow these damn things. I LOVE not having to double up on bras anymore!

As far as regular bras go, don't forget TJ Maxx and Marshalls. For the first time in my life I need something that gives me some shape. I love Bali and Barely There.

  33. One thing I hate most about my unwanted weight gain (grrrr) is that my boob size inceased. Hate them now. But I can wear any cheap bra as long as it has stretchy lace in the back, anything else bugs me to death.

I thought Jillian was trying to launch her own show or something....I see her on The Doctors on the gym TVs now and then, maybe she just wanted more. Is the next show only about kids and not a separate show? Odd.

  34. I have fake boobies and I love them, sometimes. I have had them for almost 10 years now. I decided to get them after having gone off the pill (tubes tied) my boobs shrunk to flaps of skin. It was embarrassing and awkward. I'm really glad I got them except for once in a while. First is when I'm running bra shopping. I have to spend a small fortune and they are quite the contraption. I don't notice my boobs when I run (if I have a great bra on) but I can't keep my running bra on for long. Second is when I'm looking at the cutest running/yoga clothes that I really shouldn't wear because of the bra I will have to put on under it. I have a running and yoga friend that is only about 5'3 and maybe 100 lbs on a bloated day. She is just all around petite and she has tiny little boobs and it works for her.

Other then that the only thing I would have done differently is get a size smaller. I am tall and one would not guess I'm a D cup when I'm in regular clothes. I do love that I can put on something and bring out a little cleavage for that hot date with the hubs. I know my sister struggled with her self esteem and even put inserts in her swimsuits. Getting her boob job did the world for her.

    Don't like Jillian too much.
I'll save Dolvett - hunka hunka

  35. Boobs are overrated as far as I'm concerned. I have Ds and hate them. They're beautiful and all and hubs thinks they're wonderful, but they're in the way. Running and the bounce: not fun. Cycling: how DO I fit them in that jersey!? It's practically a magic trick... Golf: There's a reason I slice to the left or hook to the right. Boobs. Which, oddly enough,is what I look like when that happens! lol

    As for Jillian, love it!

Hey, by the way, you have me inspired to bust it out and hike on the trails! I'm riding my very first century on Sunday- and as soon as that's done, I'm heading out to Rib Mountain. Pumped! So thanks!

  36. About the boob issue - I've been a double D and am now a C- (the minus is because there's a little air between me and the bra cup but a B is too small). Being smaller is WAY better. And cheaper (bras cost so much less for women who aren't trying to defy gravity carrying around bowling balls on their chests.)

  37. I always marvel at how long my sports bras hold up! I've had 3 pairs of Brooks for about 6 years and my oldest and first New Balance bra from 12 years ago is still kicking. That's because they don't get much of a workout. Semi-full 36-A in the hiiz-ouse!

If it turns out I can't have kids, I am planning to get breast implants. I would also get a cute little car (love the VW Golf/Rabbit!). If pregnancy does finally happen for me, I expect I will follow in my mom's boob-steps and go from a nice A to a permanent C and implants won't be necessary.

  43. Boob job no, unless it's just to return what I have to their original position. Playtex makes a line of bras in 1/2 sizes (I'm 1/2 an A). I had really big ones when I was breast feeding and found they just got in the way. I'm glad Jillian is returning and think that the new concept is good only in that it may encourage more young people to get fit. I didn't see the Stars and Stripes show though I wanted to (but missed it).

  44. After 7 pregnancies and ten infertility/hysterectomy surgeries plus 11 years of breastfeeding (not consecutively) and after losing any extra weight my once perky full B cups were barely an A. I was a full C cup when breastfeeding so I had mine done based on my breastfeeding bra. It was one part of my body I couldn't get in shape and my gift to myself for giving up my bod for my kids (which was totally worth it by the way). I'm glad I didn't go big - I'm 5'9" tall and quite curvy so a C cup is just fine. No regrets. I like that kids are on biggest loser. Glad they can't be eliminated or win but glad it will be a role model hopefully for the childhood obesity issue in our country

  45. Not any more. I have had mine done since 2009, and even the people I tell, when I choose to tell, had no idea. The newest generation of implants are so natural, they aren't bags filled with saline, they are one-piece units that have the same density and feel as normal tissue, and unless you go way bigger than you were before, there's no reason that anyone would suspect it's been done. People see the celebs who've had it done, and then stuff themselves into push up bras and bikinis. Yes, there are definitely a lot of "Fake" looking ones, but not all.

  47. I'm so glad Jillian is coming back to Biggest Loser; I might actually be able to start watching it again. I think having teens on the show isn't such a bad idea and am glad they aren't up for elimination; but, I do think making it separate show would allow their specific issues to be better addressed.

Other than a boob lift, I don't see a boob job in my future. My C/Ds do not need to be any larger...just perkier when I get older.

    1. I hear you Laurie. I've lost a lot of weight but still have DDs. Before I gained the weight I was still a D+. As an athlete boobs are a real pain.

  54. I have been thinking a lot about the boob discussion lately. Actually, just this morning I stood, hands on hips, bare chested at the mirror. "Do they look bad?" I loved my boobs when I was pregnant and nursing and so did my husband. I went back to my just barely C when I quit nursing. Now that I am picking up my pace more and more they keep shrinking. I don't like that. I like having a chest. It makes me feel a lot sexier, but my husband doesn't mention anything about it. I know he is fine with it, but I would love some day if I have a lot more money to get a filler or something. I would be ok with a full B that doesn't sag!!! And finding a bra.... SUCKS! I'm still letting my barely B's swim in my C cups because I don't want to spend the money on some fancy bra. I hate bra shopping with a passion! Nothing fits right!

  55. only a fan of the boob job if you're going from super sag or super small to normal size. I'm a DD naturally and have seen several 100 lb'ers at my gym w/ boobs that dwarf mine...?! wth? It just looks ridiculous and frankly, I don't know how they get anything to fit, or how the heck do they run?? TBL is having kids?! yeah, that shoulda been a seperate show. There's enough boo-hooing w/out the younguns already. OY! Jillian. I liked her a few seasons ago, but she seemed so fake the last couple she was on. So, I didn't really miss her. Whatevs...I'll still watch it;)

  56. Coming from one of those DDD+ nursing moms (I'm currently a C, which is a surprise because I've been a full D since high school), I have to say that I am very much against boobs. I hate them. They make me look heavier than I am. And I hate the unwanted attention they bring. I also hate that other women see me and think that I've had a boob job, because I HAVEN'T. I'm just a small frame and all of my weight goes to my muffin top and boobs.
Also, running with big boobs sucks. Bouncing sucks. Bra straps chaif. I hate boobs.

  57. You have the healthiest boob out look of any woman I have ever met. As a 32D, and a huge fan of the gimme a uni boob look instead of a black eye when I run, I think I'm gonna channel my inner SUAR when I start whining.

  58. I buy training bras sometimes - not even kidding. They are super comfy and fit my less than full figured boobage. If you're looking for comfy for the less than endowed - check out Gap's wireless favorite bra. SOOOOOOO comfy.

  59. Before my double mastectomy and reconstruction, I was barely an A. I actually bought my bras in the junior section of Target. They were slightly padded and in lots of cute "teen" colors.

Now I am around a C...not really sure since I don't need to wear a bra and have never measured myself. I let my plastic surgeon pick my implants to fit my frame and I actually think they are too big. But since they are absolutely no bother at all, I just leave them. I have had enough surgeries to last awhile.

As far as boob jobs...no real opinion. I wish that we could all feel comfortable with our bodies without "fixing" things. But if someone wanted one, no judgement here.

  60. No to the boob job, I am small-breasted lady myself and am fine with padded bras! lol
I like that Jillian is coming back too but now that you mention it I think maybe a separate show would be better, it will be interesting to see how the incorporate the teenagers.

  62. I am all for a breast reduction! D cup on. 4'11" body. I hate them!

  63. Boob job--only to put them back where they started. I wear a D cup, and gravity has not been kind to me.

  64. My fake boobs and I ran five miles this morning. I was a runner before I got them, and I'm still running now. Granted, I didn't go very big (ended up with a C cup), but I love how I look and I wouldn't change them for the world. The only thing I don't like about breast implants is the judgement and disdain that radiates from random people. Some wouldn't want them and that's understandable (I can always agree to disagree), but some folks are just mean (even a few here were pretty rude).

I'm glad to see Jillian back on BL. I always liked her, and I liked her and Bob together. I'm intrigued by the teenagers -- I just hope they don't turn that into the kind of drama reality tv shows thrive on. I like the idea of addressing obesity in youth though, and I'm hopeful that they'll do it well.

  65. These are extremely comfortable with just enough support, and as opposed to regular sports bras are quite cute. As others have said, these are not suitable for anything above low-impact activity, but they are perfect for casual comfort. i also like bali bra http://www.apparelnbags.com/bali/index.htm
