No Dumping Allowed

I like to break the law when I can:

That there squat was the only exercise I got all weekend.

Don't lie. You guys have missed me since Thursday. I have been MIA because I've been so busy I've barely had time to crap let alone blog. Here's where I've been (Breckenridge, CO):

Well, it didn't look like that this weekend (that picture is from the MLS listing), it looked more like this.

My friend Julie and her family live here. Julie and I went to grad school together 15 years ago. Since then we've both married and have kids. I feel so bad for Julie. She has to live in this humble shack. To make matters worse she lives right at the base of the ski mountain. It sucks for her.

In reality, going to their house from ours was a bit like going from the Holiday Express to the Four Seasons. Man they have the most killer power flushers too. Not that I needed it or anything.

We went to visit for the weekend, just to get out of dodge. We learned that Julie's husband, Wayne, (who built that house above if you can believe it - I hang out with some pretty talented folk) has grown a soul patch since we last saw him. I had no clue what this was because I am not a snowboarder, I am not hip and I do not know much about facial hair. According to the urban dictionary a soul patch is:

That little round bit of facial hair, under the lower lip that says you are hip.

It can also be referred to as a dork tuft, pubes or, my personal fave, a p$*sy tickler.

We all had soul patches for the weekend. But mine didn't tickle anything.

Here's Julie and the real soul patch guy:

Here are Ken and me - a couple of soul patch wannabes. Mine just looks like I have a big piece of brownie on my face:

We mostly hung out and drank margaritas and made fun of each other.

Oh, and for you Christmas Vacation fans, we drove by the actual Walmart where this scene was shot (shown at about 2:35 in):

I did get off of my ass this morning to complete my five mile tempo run on the treadmill. I did not fall off. I did not get on a moving treadmill. The guy next to me did, however, drop his water bottle while running and it shot across the room. I find these things amusing.

Did you work out today? If so, what'd ya do?

Drinking: H20

  1. Can you share your definition of a tempo run? I found a training schedule that has them with a definition I barely understand...so enlighten me please!

  2. I shoveled my way out of 3 feet of snow... and I have Kenpo X with P90X tonight.

I love your pictures... maybe snow can be fun.

Yes, I actually got off my behind this morning for almost an hour on the bike. Ugh.

    Drinking: regular Coke.

  8. ya the *p$*sy* tickler, tickled me....you kill me.

I ran 7 miles this morning, on the dreadmill (really I don't mind it all that much)then hit the pool for 3/4 mile swim... feeling good. Going back to the Y tonight for seconds in abs class and spin class... yay for us crazies.

  9. Hahaha, I like your piece of browie stuck to your chin!! And yes, your poor friend who has to tough it out in that piece of crap house..sheeseh, so sorry you had to suck it up in that place. :). My aunt has a 1-bedroom condo up there so um, yeah, when I go visit, I get the Motel 6 version. But at least it's free. haha. At least now I don't feel really bad for not getting in touch with you to run this weekend when Tara and I ran; it was very last minute and she was doing 14 while I was doing lots more so logistically, it was complicated and come Friday before our run, we finally got it figured out. Anyway, for sure let's plan on a good run together, all us girls. Game???

  10. I went to a 75 minute Yoga class and was the only person attending . . . so I got the attention of the instructor all to myself. I am now back at the hotel from enjoying a skinny vanilla latte at Starbuck's and deciding whether to head over to Vail and window shopping or go for a run.

I think Vail wins out - heck I can run any day. ;-)

  12. That place is gorgeous! Do they need anymore friends! ha

  13. I tried to run today. It wasn't pretty with my cold and lack of energy. Your vacay sounds great! The last time (and only time) I was in Breckenridge was for my honeymoon. Not a lot of running happened that week.

  14. Running or not, I will get a workout in today.

Glad you had a great weekend!!

  15. I did core. Later I might lift 16 ounces...

  16. wow, what a gorgeous place! Sounds like you all had a great weekend!

I did workout this morning - ran on the treadmill, jumped on the stationary bike for a bit and then did strength training, focusing on my triceps. Great way to start the day!

  17. I missed you, I did!

Today I ran what I guess you fancy folks call a Tempo Run . . . yeepers, that "speed" stuff is not easy! I got home 10 minutes ago, and I just took a big dump (I wouldn't usually mention the last bit, but damn, girl! you're encouraging me!).

    Drinking: chocolate milk.

  19. Ok so I didn't read all the comments above, but someone must have also called it a "flavor savor." Yup. Gross.

  20. Saver. Ugh, I am dumb right now.

  21. I've always wanted to make it over to Breckenridge!
I did Jillian Michaels' no more trouble zones dvd this morning. I love & hate that woman... hauled around my 2 year old, walked around campus, and my next run is in 10 hrs. woot!!

  22. You people and that crazy white stuff. :) I was supposed to do a recovery run today, but my legs decided to do a tempo run. It was amazing. :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm not allowed in the gym because I shoot water bottles all over the gym via the treadmill. Towels, magazines, hats, they all go. It's just dangerous.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oh, love the christmas vacation reference!! Watched it 4 times this season...and actually asked Andy last weekend if we could watch it again. Love that movie!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I really need to start having higher standards for my friends, that place is beautiful. Love the soul patches, by the way, and if you actually used a brownie then you would always have a snack. Win, win!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I crapped. Does that count? Sorry - really though it was raining and I wimped out in favor of some non-impressive calisthenics.

There should be some sort of plaque - maybe a statue - but anyway, a memorial of some kind to mark that Walmart as special.

As for the 'soul patch' - personally I would imagine that a mustache would be more convenient to wield if less stylish in the wearing; either way, I'd have to write them both off as a crutch. Just sayin.

  27. nice form.
    you must be an expert.

  28. That looks beautiful - what a fun weekend. Both the fake and real soul patches are kinda creepy.

  29. Ran past the set of Grumpy Old Men today - and yes, I was grumpy (and old and manly enough to have a real beard).

    ReplyDelete
  30. I usually here of it as a cl@t tickler. hahahahah. Anyway, I did 5X800s on the treadmill because I'm still too big of a wimp to meet my running club I signed up for. But it went well!

  31. Oh what an unfortunate house to be stuck in...bummer.

Soul patches remind me of this creepy 40ish guy who used to call me "Doll". Not a fan...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yes, I did indeed miss you.

I want to be friends with your friend Julie. That house in that location...amazing.

I have 6 miles at race pace coming up in about an hour. In the pouring rain. Exciting.

  33. Children on day 7 of no school. Help, emmmeffer, help. Okay so I taught my old people IntroFit at the Y, Biked 10 on the upright then ran the big 1 mile. Is there a reason Julie is pointing to her p(#&sy? I like you in a soul patch. Perhaps on a girl it's a dogsnoggler. I'm funny and contemplating happy hour at 2:30.

  34. Looks like a fantastic weekend get away. Good for you.
As for my w/o today, it was a cross training day so that meant 40 min. ET + 30 min weights (legs) + 53 min. walk with the dog.
Tomorrow is a 60 min. run and I can't decide whether the dreadmill should be my course or to venture outside in the cold 4:30 AM air. Hmmm...I'll ask my dog.

    ReplyDelete
  35. There's a dude that always runs next to me on the t-mill and has twice left it on when he's done but at 1.5 speed. I'm waiting to witness my very own Beth incident. Will report back, hopefully with photos! :p

  36. Aw yes, my Hub has something sort of similar. It pales in comparison to your friend's soul patch, but I'm with B.o.B. here, I fondly refer to it as the "flava sava" ... it's more like a shadow under his bottome lip.
