Hairstyles and Attitudes

Today I jumped the mailman’s bones when he brought three surprises. Things I love.

1. Barefoot Angie Bee, my favorite Nuun girl, saw the devastation of my water bottles in the dishwasher and sent these. New water bottles and a supply of Nuun tabs! She rocks. I don’t know why I’m laying down with this  bottles. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

2. This book, Running on Empty by famed ultra runner Marshall Ulrich, is to be released on April 14, 2011.  I was asked by the publisher to read and review. My review will be posted on the day of the book’s release. I will also get to do a Q & A with Marshall Ulrich. Good times. I hope Dean is not jealous. He gets that way sometimes about me. Very possessive. Kind of like me in this picture. Possessed.

I’ve been in a bad mood all day today about my hair. Now you know why. I need a cut, a style or a full head shave. I always think of that Timbuk 3 song from 1990 that said, “Hairstyles and attitudes, are they connected?” I used to LOVE this band. Then what happened to them? They must be hanging out with those people who sang Video Killed the Radio Star. Here’s another good one from them:

Lots of you may be too young to remember these guys. You should be old like me.  I say, well, yes, hairstyles and attitudes are connected. Bad hair = bad attitude.

3. New Athleta catalog arrived. Making my wish list for when my next “allotment” comes in. I love you Athleta.  I also love Emma and her open mouth. And the fact that I look like a dog about to take a leak.

So, despite the fact that I did taxes today, got yelled at by my massage therapist for being resistant and “not in my body” (whatever that means), hate my hair, hate fourth grade girl drama, and was accused by Ken of using his nose hair clipper (for what dude? oh yea I did use it on my pubes. sorry) it’s been an overall pretty damn good day. And I got in a five mile run. Did you hear that? I am running. Regularly. Almost pain free.

Does your hair affect your attitude?

Do you do yoga moves in your jeans?

Does your dishwasher melt things?

Do your kids have friend drama?

Do you make your kids take pictures of you for your blog?

What’s your favorite song from the 90s?

Does it annoy you when bloggers ask questions?

Off to watch Survivor,

  2. My hair GREATLY impacts my mood; it is short so I have to keep it trimmed up or I am super grumpy.

No yoga for me. Yes my dishwasher melts things. My son is 2 1/2 so he pushes all his friends down, hits them and steals their toys. He would take pictures but his finger would cover the window.

Song from the 90s.... not sure. I would have to like google to figure that out.

    I watch Survivor too!

  3. Chumba Wumba "I get knocked down". Are those yoga jeans, perhaps? Yes. I had a hot haircut that made me look like Louise Brooks, but the bangs grew out in like 2 weeks. Damn it.

  6. I wish I had a dishwasher. Period. Even if it melted things. Because sadly, it would do a better job than my husband.

  7. My post disappeared so if this posts double I'm sorry!

I'm about to get dreads. Dreads are a journey, not a destination. I suspect the next year will teach me a lot about patience and going with the flow. Dreads really are a spiritual experience.

I don't do yoga. And I only have one pair of jeans. I have a dishwasher, but I don't use it. I have no children but I do have a chihuahua. He's full of drama but lacks thumbs so photo taking is out of the question.

My favorite 90's song is Possum Kingdom by the Toadies.

    I like questions.

  8. For now, I only do yoga moves in jeans. I love that song…i have a great picture to go with it that we used for a party invitation years ago…my bald infant son in HUGE shades side by side with my bald husband wearing infant shades. I think I have a hair/attitude correlation, too. Favorite song from the 90's? Do Me by Bell Biv Devoe. No current kid drama, thankfully :) No naughty melting dishwasher. My kids aren't so skilled in the photo dept. I should have them practice. Are you really going to read all of thiis? I doubt it :P

  11. Who you calling a blogger?????

I always do yoga in my jeans. Is there some sort of athleta clothing for men that we are supposed to wear?

What's 4th grade? What do I have to look forward to?

Hair? I just wish I had more!!!! How is that for a wish?

Now that I answered your questions it's your turn to answer mine.

  12. My oldest gets pissy often when I make him take pictures for me. He is a tween though and pissy is the normal attitude it seems.

My husband does the dishes. Yay! I get to do other things like laundry and change diapers. The little one is almost out of them though and I don't want to start having to do dishes when he is done.

I totally loved all the grunge bands in the 90's :)

    1. 5 miles that is huge. fantastic. I heard that.
    2. I am old enough...plenty

Does your hair affect your attitude? no..I gave up on the hair. I have so little left I am angry at my hair all the time so it wins.

Do you do yoga moves in your jeans? I could if I knew how!! I need a good class. those are rare here.

Does your dishwasher melt things? YEP

Do your kids have friend drama? not yet. 2 boys under 6. it will come I am sure.

  18. Yes my hair affects my attitude...like whoa! And no I don't do yoga...too uncoordinated. No, my dishwasher is good (fingers crossed) but I don't put my waterbottles in it, my husband washes them by hand for me. He's so sweet. I have no kids... but I make aforementioned husband take pics of me for my blog. lol. Waterfalls by TLC was great! And no as a blogger I ask questions so not annoying. :)

  19. I think this is one of my favorite blog posts ever. EVER. Congrats on your happy 5 miles. It will get even better from here!

  20. Does your hair affect your attitude?
I don't care what my hair does, what little there is of it. When I need a comb I schedule a hair cut.

Do you do yoga moves in your jeans?
    No.

    Does your dishwasher melt things?
No, because we never use it. I find washing dishes by hand to be a peaceful and soothing experience.

Do your kids have friend drama?
    We are child free.

Do you make your kids take pictures of you for your blog?
No. (See above.) If I had any I wouldn't be letting them slack off by taking pictures. They'd be put to productive work.

What’s your favorite song from the 90s?
I dunno. I haven't paid attention to music since some time in the early 60's. I still think of the Beatles and Stones as new music. What I've heard of "music" since then seems to be people that are learning how to play and sing, and generally not doing very well at it.

Does it annoy you when bloggers ask questions?
Oh no, not at all. I love answering questions, and doubly so if it involves giving advice. I love giving advice.

    Off to watch Survivor,
Ack. Barf. WATCH TV??? Watch a "reality" show? When you could be doing something productive like putting your kids to work, reading, or doing yoga? Or, if you're really up for it, breaking out the trapeze and mirrors and other props, if you know what I mean. Nudge, nudge, wink, wink. Say no more.

  21. Does your hair affect your attitude?
Oh yes. The days it doesn't want to cooperate I feel lousy and like I suck at my job.

Do you do yoga moves in your jeans? Nope never.

Does your dishwasher melt things? All the time. I now put all the plastic on the top rack which seems to help but sometimes still melts stuff.

Does it annoy you when bloggers ask questions? Nope, love it. Makes replying a no brainer. It's the end of the day and my brain has already turned off making it more difficult to make creative replies.

  22. Does barefoot Angie Bee know that Nuun is my favorite hydration product EVER. That it's the only thing I ever drink when on a long run, and that my supply is VERY low? If not, you should tell her about my awesome blog and about how I'd love to put a sponsored by Nuun tag on the side of it :) Just sayin'

  23. First off, it looked like you were ripping a MASSIVE fart in that picture... not trying to take a leak... got it?

Does your hair affect your attitude?
NO, I keep my hair short. So I guess I have a short attitude?
Do you do yoga moves in your jeans?
HELL NO, I do them in my yoga pants... COMMANDO!
    Does your dishwasher melt things?
YUP, that's why we hand wash our bottles.
Do your kids have friend drama?
Don't have kids, but Frankie (our male dog) does NOT get along with any other dog out there... so does that count?
Do you make your kids take pictures of you for your blog?
Frankie would eat the camera. Sophie would lick it. SO NO.
What’s your favorite song from the 90s?
    Good question... Hanson - MMMBop.
Does it annoy you when bloggers ask questions?
No, great way to get responses haha :)

  24. My roots were about 20 miles long until Monday when I finally got them touched up. I feel like a whole new me. But then I had this nightmare last night where someone dyed my hair brown(I'm blondie blonde) and I cried...so to answer, yes, hair:attitude

I don't do yoga in my jeans, but I should!

My dishwasher melted my Nalgene bottle lid, but a very nice e-mail to Nalgene got me two new lids and a finger wagging for putting my lid in the dishwasher. oh well.

I live vicariously through my friend with her kids' drama. Particularly her 14 year old. I hate it. I wish she'd just listen to our advice, but she's a tough kid, so she's gotta learn....

Favorite Song in The 90s; Spice Up Your Life by the Spice Girls....

So happy to read about the five miles! That's my goal on Saturday! Here's hopin!

  25. Does your hair affect your attitude?
-Yes. Everything affects my attitude and my attitude affects everything!
Do you do yoga moves in your jeans?
-I only wish I was flexible enough to do so, as it is I can hardly do them in workout pants!
    Does your dishwasher melt things?
-I am very afraid that if I put something plastic in the dishwasher then it would so I don't. My dishwasher is a piece of crappola!
Do you kids have friend drama?
    -I don't have any kids. But I have friend drama, does that count? {Seriously at age 30 you would think that "friend drama" would be a thing of the past}
Do you make your kids take pictures of you for your blog?
-No kids BUT I think I probably would :)
What's your favorite song from the 90's?
-Baby Got Back by Sir Mixx-A-Lott
    or
November Rain by Guns n' Roses
    {I was a big GnR fan in the 90's and still rock out to their greatest hits album}
Does it annoy you when bloggers ask questions?
-Nope, I think its a great way to get responses and to leave responses!

Great job on your 5 miler!

  26. Congrats on the run!

I don't do yoga in jeans, but our dogs look like they're doing it all the time, especially when the smaller one lifts his leg to pee. His hips stack perfectly on top of each other. I can only dream about doing hip openers that well.

  27. Look at all the goodies!!!

I think I need to have kids so they can take pictures of me. Hubs teases too much!

  28. Um, that's a lot of questions. LOL. There seems to be a lot of love online for Nuun and I haven't tried it yet! I don't do yoga, period. I think my 5 year old daughter will be CAUSING friend drama in the future, but so far, so good.

  29. I love Athleta, I just wish they wouldn't break my bank each time I look through it.

  30. if I wore anything other than yoga pants and sweat pants...maybe i could answer the jeans question. but i dont. ever.

  31. Yay for new bottles and NUUN! Love that stuff!

    Hair totally effects my attitude!

I wish I had enough money to buy all the Athleta gear that I wanted! Sigh...

  32. Just had to tell you this post was up in my Google reader feed and my 6 year old saw the pic of you laying down covered in water bottles and Nuun and thought something bad had happened to you. He said, "Mom! This is a terrible picture!" So I told him you were just being silly and you hadn't been attacked with hydration supplies. :)
