A few weeks ago I was sent some new sport earphones to try out.
They are made by Auria and the model is Exceed. These earphones have an XFit System that has you insert the phones in your ear and them rotate them for a snug and proper fit. Auria promises that the earphones:
- Will stay in place comfortably
- Will enable users to hear ambient sounds around them while they enjoy their music (if you don’t know what “ambient sounds” are, don’t feel bad, neither did I. They’re just environmental noises like birds chirping or cars about to hit you).
- Will provide excellent audio
- Will allow users to interface with the iPods, MP3 players and smartphones.
Truth be told, when I first put these in my ear hole (love that term), they felt like they might fall out. I brought my “other” plugs on my run just in case. But, guess what? Not only did they not fall out, they didn’t move at all during my run and I never had to adjust them.
So…I wore them during the Boston Marathon. I think a marathon is a pretty true test of something. If it’s going to break down or get on your nerves, it’ll probably be at some point during 26.2 miles. This is mile 20 and I am about to cry because I just found my family. That’s why the earphones are out.
Here is a zoom on the earphones and my neck, which obviously aged quite a bit during those 20 miles.
Verdict: the earphones worked very well. I know this because I never noticed they were falling out or getting on my nerves. Which was good because I had other things to worry about like throwing away underwear and getting to the damn finish line in one piece.
They also stay in place when it is incredibly windy outside. I’ve now used them on all runs since Boston. I think they deliver what they promise.
Sound quality is good. Fit is comfy and snug. Environmental noises can be heard at a minimum, which technically makes these earphones a bit safer than your ordinary pair. I also love that you can personalize these with click-on additions like:
They retail for $33.99 and come with
- Two sets of swappable Personalizers: a color-matched, painted set and a hand-picked graphical set.
- A super-soft, black mesh carrying case to hold most smartphones (including iPhone 4/3G/3GS and Blackberry models), Exceed earphones and accessories.
Want a pair? Auria would like to give away one pair to a reader.

ReplyDeleteI need a new pair because mine just won't stay in my ears where they belong..
ReplyDeleteLIKE AURIA on fb and told them you sent me
ReplyDeleteBlogger ate my comment...argh...
ReplyDeleteI NEED NEED NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED these headphones. My hook over the ear headphones LITERALLY just crapped out on me. Now all I have are these crappy ear buds that don't stay put.
I liked and mentioned you on FB on Auria's fan page.
Fave song to run to - "Remember the Name" by Fort Minor. It was supposed to be dedicated to a friend after him and I ran opposing half marathons a couple weeks ago and I beat him, but I didn't freaking beat him...the song is still super motivational though.
ANNNNNNNNNNNNND...Im going to share this on my FB Page NOW!
Right here, Right now from fatboy slim:)
ReplyDeleteI liked auria on facebook.
ReplyDeleteI follow you (more like stalk) and I desperately need these because I'm so tired of having to wear the ones that go all the way around me ear! Such a hassle - you have to pull and tweak your ear to get them to fit just right! Right now, my favorite song is This Is It - it's a Christian song with an amazing run beat. I'd love it to play as I cross the finish line but I never can seem to master that! Also, I tweeted and liked them on FB.
ReplyDeleteCurrent song - Adele "Rolling in the Deep"
ReplyDeleteI follow you.
ReplyDeleteI need these earphones because I am always knocking my ipod ones out. Tunes are the only way I can make it through my indoor training, which seems to be all I am doing this spring.
ReplyDeleteI follow you.
ReplyDeleteMy fav running song that got me my BQ is Eminem's Lose Yourself. I can't wait to re-BQ in Detroit this fall.
ReplyDeleteI NEED these new headphones because my current ones block out all sounds including when my friends come up in behind me in their cars and lay on the horn to try to scare me. On second thought, maybe it's good that I can't hear anything!
ReplyDeleteLiked Auria on FB and told them you sent me!
ReplyDelete"Party Rock Anthem" by LMFAO! Love that song right now!
ReplyDeleteI already follow your blog.
ReplyDeletePosted the giveaway on my Twitter!
ReplyDeleteSomeone in my family have taken mine earphones. Of course this is probably because I buy myself nice earphones and give them cheap ones. Cheap Target ones are a perfect stocking stuffer but one of those things that no one really wants because well, they're cheap. Unfortunately they noticed that mine were better and somehow found my hiding spot for mine. Of course my hiding spot isn't really a hiding spot, just on the inside pocket of my car door. You would think this is a safe spot because all of the people in the family have their own cars so why would they be driving mine? Well, we go back to being cheap again. My car gets borrowed when they are too cheap to buy their own gas. So, when I get in my car to head out for a run, not only do I now have no earphones, but I now have no gas. Do I let this stop me from going? Well, quite often yes, but if I had new head phones? I would run way more often. I would keep these new headphones in my other well hidden spot where no one hardly ever goes. My husband wishes that i would stop hiding stuff down my pants, but like I said, no one is hardly ever down there.....haha
ReplyDelete1) I TOTALLY follow your blog.
ReplyDelete2) AWOLNATION, "Sail" is the song of choice. It seems slow, but it has a long rhythm and for some reason makes me feel less crazy.
3) Have you considered that the world is supposed to end on the 21st and participants of this contest might not get a chance to use them? I may be out looting to get a sweet stereo if the world ends, so I might miss the results...
I need new headphones because the ones that wrap around my ears give me vicious headaches and I have a low tolerance for the load grunters next to me on the gym treadmill.
ReplyDeleteI LIKED them on facebook, and I already follow you!
Giving this giveaway a shout out on my blog...NOW.
And my fav song to run to right now is Adele's Rolling in the Deep.
Ha ha, that should say LOUD not load. Changes what they are doing on that treadmill, ha ha.
ReplyDeletei follow your blog, GIRL!
ReplyDeletei run to any "booty music" available.
ReplyDeleteand i for sure need these headphones because the ones that apple ships with iPods... awful.
ReplyDeleteRight now my fave song is Born This Way.
ReplyDeleteI need these because I have some bizarre ability to kill earbuds...if I were I superhero, I would be the Earbud Zapper...maybe it's because I buy cheap ones...anyway, my newest pair (3 weeks old) crapped out on me on my run this morning...
ReplyDeleteI am always messing with my earphones, I just don't have good ones that stay in my ears!
ReplyDeleteMy last pair of earbuds fell apart in my backpack and the pair I bought to replace them are soooooooo quiet, so I'm definitely in the market for a new pair that will stay in my ears.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower!
ReplyDeleteAlso I am a follower of your blog.
ReplyDeleteI am loving Dog Days are Over by Florence + The Machine!
ReplyDeleteAnd my favorite song to run to right now is "Requiem for a Dying Song" by Flogging Molly, as it's fast and bouncy.
ReplyDeleteI need them because we ran out of Q-tips yesterday
ReplyDeleteliked them on facebook and said you sent me
ReplyDeleteMy favorite song to run to is:
ReplyDeleteHootie and the Blowfish - Time
I've been putting off buying new headphones even though currently only one earbud works on my current pair. Yes, I'm going to go deaf in one ear and not the other. At least this way I can hear ambient noise?
ReplyDeleteRegardless, I need a new pair. A pair that would stay in my petite and strangely shaped earholes.
I followed your blog. It's pretty good. It's about hot chicks that run right? I like blogs like that. And not a lot about feminine hygiene products - thanks!
ReplyDeleteRunning? What's that? I could use them to bike, but I don't run much these days chica!
ReplyDeleteI am a follower
ReplyDeleteMentioned on my blog tab about your giveaway!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I have Liked and Commented on Facebook! Plus, I'm a follower of your blog. Have been for awhile, though, so I don't know if that counts.
ReplyDeleteyour on my contest page on my blog ... but nobody read that anymore so ... sorry.
ReplyDeleteBTW if I should run, please send the prize to Jill.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, read it every day. It gives me the inspiration to get my butt out of my desk chair and go run after work. I could really use new earphones. Mine came with my ancient iPod and all the rubber is coming of the edge, not very comfy. I liked the Auria page and mentioned you sent me on Facebook. I change up my running music all the time, but right now I'm running to Owl City. Thanks for the motivating and entertaining (funny) blog!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win these. I am currently using the original headphones that came with my ipod and they drive me crazy. My husband's just stopped working so I can't even borrow his!
ReplyDeleteMy current favorite song is probably "More" by Usher.
ReplyDeleteAlthough, there are a lot of good songs out right now so it's hard to choose.
I am a fan of Auria on FB and posted on their page.
ReplyDeleteFlorence and the Machine...Dog Days...is the song the keeps me going
ReplyDeleteI need them because I'm sure if I had a nice pair I would 1) never leave them at home before a race and 2) they would stay in my ears and not annoy the crap out of me during a half when I'm trying to bust a move.
ReplyDeleteTold them you sent me!
ReplyDeletePinks F*ckin Perfect is my best running song right now. OR Her Raise your Glass! Awesome songs.
ReplyDeleteI follow!
ReplyDeletei am loving Tonight Tonight by Hot Chelle Rae
ReplyDeleteI follow you through the poo AND pussy posse to boston and beyond!

ReplyDeleteBecause my 4 year old high jacks EVERY pair that I get!!!! and my newest pair that was supposed to have special no tangle feature is about the be amputated by the sheath that is said to protect it!
ReplyDeleteI follow :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I neeeeeed these because I just took up running and realize this is a huge issue! I get so frustrated having to continually reach up to press in and adjust my earbuds!
And my current favorite song to trot to is anything by Kings Of Leon, I'm on a kick!
Ilene M. sent me your link! I would absolutely love to have these earbud earphones (need is all relative, right?). However I haven't found any earphones that are comfortable to wear. I have been jogging and running 5Ks for the last 3 years. I took a hiatus for a while because I was involved in a pretty bad car accident. But now I'm back to jogging and gearing up for the Bolder Boulder. I have liked you and Auria on FB and I signed up for the blog (let the daily wisdom start coming in). As of now, the best songs I have found are the ones with the best beat. Sometimes I don't even notice the words, just the beat.
ReplyDelete1) I need headphones that don't fall out everytime I move my ever-loving arm.
ReplyDelete2) I listen to the playlist I put together for my very first run (which was just on Mother's Day)
3) I don't know how to follow people. I'm just special like that.
4) Does the contest end May 21st or Sunday...'cause they're not the same day. Can I get a bonus entry for being annoying and pointing that out?
Ok, so selecting anonymous was a mistake. I'm Anonymous.
ReplyDeleteI NEED these headphones because mine start to fall out as soon as I get sweaty! Most of my runs are on the treadmill and I get sweaty around 1/2 a mile and have to mess with them the entire time!
ReplyDeleteI like Auria on FB and told them that you sent me!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite song at the moment is either Firework by Kety Perry, "Dani California" from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers or No love by Eminem
ReplyDeleteI flow you already!
ReplyDeleteI posted this on FB, punkin4675
ReplyDeleteliked them on FB and told them you sent me
ReplyDeleteI really need ear buds because I somehow lost mine. Don't know how, but I've been music-less for two weeks!!
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog!
ReplyDeleteI need a new set of earphones because the only ones I have found that stay in and allow me to hear ambient noises are these clip-over-the-ear types. They make me look like Princess Leia and are completely obvious in race pictures.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tune right now is Adele's "Running in the Deep." If I could marry a voice I would leave my husband tonight to get at that.
ReplyDeleteI need them because mine fall out every 7 minutes and by the end of a run are turned up all the way, playing music while hanging around my neck! I have yet to find a set that works for me.
ReplyDeleteI need the Auria headphones because my wrap-around sport headphones are crap and they are too big for ears, making them sore, and making me grouchy
ReplyDeletefavorite song to run to is Outkast - Bombs Over Baghdad.
ReplyDeleteI need these because my headphones have an awkward bar that goes behind my neck.
ReplyDeleteI liked them on FB and told them you sent me.
ReplyDeleteI follow the blog.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite running song (this week) is I Just Got Back from Hell by Gary Allen
ReplyDeleteI shared the giveaway on my FB
ReplyDeleteI liked their fb page and told them you sent me.
ReplyDeleteLately I've been listening to podrunner. When I wasn't, I was on a bfmv kick.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower.
ReplyDeleteAnd I facebooked it.
ReplyDeleteMy current set of headphones has a loose connection so I really really really need a new pair.
ReplyDeleteSexyBack by Justin Timberlake. It has the perfect beat for my long slow runs.
ReplyDeleteI already "like" you.
ReplyDeleteI also need them because they are pink.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to win so that I can join the cool kids and run with music (by borrowing my children's MP3s since I don't even own one). And I haven't run with music because I like to hear oncoming traffic, which has almost taken me out dozens of times just in my neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteI'd be at the mercy of my kids' playlist, heavy on Pink, Nickelback (don't judge), and Jimmy Buffet. But I'd probably convince them to add Queen's "Fat Bottom Girls."
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower. I'd follow you anywhere, except into the private domain to pop a squat.
ReplyDeleteI need these earphones because mine fall out of my ears and make a strange, crunchy noise. I especially like listening to angry girl music while I run- Ani Difranco, Pink, Amy Ray- and hippie music. It's a great combination.
ReplyDeleteFollower!
ReplyDeleteFav song = Coming Home, P Diddy
ReplyDeleteLOVE some new buds! I bought a pair of expensive ones (not sure where they are now) so I'm forced to use the ones that came with my iPod.
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower.
ReplyDeleteBest running song for me is "Dog Days are Over" by Florence and the Machine.
I tweeted about the give away.
I need these headphones just because. One can never have TOO many sets of headphones...
They sound nice, but I *heart* my yurbuds and would highly recommend them. Maybe you can get a pair to review and do a comparison.
ReplyDeleteI need new headphones because ... I never run and listen to music because headphones are generally uncomfortable, and I am afraid to not hear cars, etc, when I run outside. This would be a new chance to give music a chance.
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog
ReplyDeleteI love the song Raise Your Glass, and Perfect!
ReplyDeleteI need these earphones because my Skullcandy ones just conked out on one side.
ReplyDeleteI "liked" Auria on Facebook!
I love to run to about anything by the Black Eyed Peas. Catchy beats that keep me going...
I follow your blog on my G-reader!

ReplyDeleteI had a really nice pair of ear buds but the wire broke on them and I am currently using a back up pair that make my ears hurt!!!
ReplyDeleteI liked Auria on FB!!
ReplyDeleteHmmm favorite song to run to currently would be Shots by LMFAO
ReplyDeleteI need these because I would love to run with music but haven't found a pair of headphones that don't fall out of my ears or make them hurt!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite song to run to varies a lot, but most recently it was "All That She Wants" by Ace of Base - total throwback.
ReplyDeleteI read your blog every day (or as often as you update it), and went back and read all your old posts too!
I need them because I am still struggling through my runs with crappy ipod earphones, and have not been able to buy an awesome new pair yet!
ReplyDeleteI could really use a pair that would not be constantly falling out of my ears. Also, mine not only fall out, but only one bud works--at least that I can tell when it actually does stay put.
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog
ReplyDeleteI "liked" Auria on facebook!
ReplyDeleteI would like a pair because mine are hurting me
ReplyDeleteI bought a different kind and they fall all the time
My favorite song to run to (and it has been since I started running!) is "I Found A Way" by Alkaline Trio.
ReplyDeleteI follow and love your blog!

ReplyDeletesong: hit the ground running by Keith Urban

ReplyDeleteI blogged about your giveaway!
ReplyDeletewww.colleenpitmon.blogspot.com
I need to win a pair of these Auria earphones! Why? Because the pair that came with the iPod are essentially done for and don't stay in my ears even when sitting peaceably reading. The pair that came with the iPhone are pretty good, but they live in a bag that goes to work every day, so I can listen to music while I work, and not disturb the other person I share space with. The only short run I tried with the earphones wasn't much fun. I think my ear canals were flexing and bouncing and pretty soon the buds came out. Something that really works would be great!
ReplyDeleteI need these because I swear I have tried every earbud out there and can't find anything I like! I'm training for my first half and will not make it through without music!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower!
ReplyDeleteI linked you on my blog's sidebar.
ReplyDeleteI need these epic headphones because my current pair don't stay in very well. Plus, they [allegedly] used to be white, but have since turned to some sort of human sweat/epithelial/grunge/yellow-beige tone. It ain't pretty.
ReplyDeleteI liked their Facebook page and told them you sent me!!
ReplyDeleteI also liked their facebook page with my blog's facebook. :)
ReplyDeleteI need these because I am literally on my 8th pair of head phones and these suck just as much as the last one. Can you tell I'm bitter? But these Auria earphone sound awesome and I may have to get them even if I don't win the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI already follow you, was 1001 !! How's that for a great number? I note of course, that following you isn't a particularly elite club, since now you have 1584 followers!!! Holy Crap! This is getting beyond a fan club, and getting into contention for taking over the world territory. I don't think I know of another fitness blog that has more followers. You've got Steve in a Speedo whipped. Even EMZ and her amazing abs are training in your (poopy) wake. So that's two entries now.
ReplyDeleteI need a new pair because I am tired of mine falling out (or getting yanked out by my arms)!!
ReplyDeleteAnd of course I follow your super awesome kick ass blog.
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite song to run by, right now, is My Body by Young the Giant!!
ReplyDelete1. I really need a pair of earphones! I've gone through three this year and can't afford to buy more! It might have something to do with the buckets of sweat I release that maybe screw up the wiring?
ReplyDelete2. Currently love to listen to Florence & The Machine's "Dog Days Are Over"
3. I tweeted about you!
I also noted this contest on my blog. Which is a third entry. In fact, there should be a FOURTH entry, because you're listed on my blog roll, and you post so often that you are usually in the top ten. I know of a half a dozen people that read your blog now since they saw it on my blogroll. I deeply suspect that now they have discovered you, they have stopped reading me. Which just proves what an awesome blogger you are. Really, all the readers I've fed to you should be worth a pair of earphones, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteFavorite songs to run to (as of right now): Paper Planes by M.I.A., Crazy Train, Pour Some Sugar on Me (because nothing makes me run better than a song that makes me feel like a stripper), Rock That Body by the Black Eyed Peas, and anything by Eminem with a ton of f-bombs so I can pretend like I'm super hardcore and tough.
ReplyDeleteI liked Auria on FB and told them you sent me!!
ReplyDeleteLastly, my fave song to work out to recently is anything by Cheap Trick. Hello There Ladies and Gentlemen! Or Whoda King? Or the long lead up to Ain't that a Shame on Live in Budokan.
ReplyDeleteJust became a follower
ReplyDeleteI need them because i run 100 miles a week and need earbuds that stay in in any weather
ReplyDeleteI dont usually listen to music, i listen to podcasts my new fav is marathon talk, they are out of the uk
ReplyDeleteI need the earphones to drown out the sound of the baby crying without being a completely negligent parent.
ReplyDeleteI so need these - every pair I have tried thus far either fall out, hurt after 20 minutes, or have such loud microphonics that I can't stand it.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite song to run to is "when I grow up" by PussyCat Dolls.
ReplyDeleteAlso a blog follower
ReplyDeleteAlso a FB follower for both
ReplyDeleteAlready a follower:)
ReplyDeleteAnd my favorite song right now? Believe it or not, "The Incredits" from Disney/Pixar. Makes me believe I'm supermom.
ReplyDeleteTotally need these because I'm on my 5th pair of earphones and have yet to find a pair that will actually stay in my ears...
ReplyDeletemaybe I have weird shaped ears or something, I don't know:/
My daughter took my earphones!
ReplyDeleteI just liked Auria on FB
ReplyDeleteI need these earphones because my cat ate mine. Yes that's what I said, no joking around here, that cat is lucky he is still living after I saw how he made them lunch. My cat likes to eat all non-edible things, cardboard, styrofoam, oh and he loves plastic, all things plastic, so he chewed a nice hole right through my old iPod earphones.
ReplyDeleteMy current favorite running song is All of the Lights by Kanye West with Rihanna
ReplyDeleteI need these becuase my current headphones blow. They fall out all.the.time.
ReplyDeleteI am loving Rolling in the Dee by Adele these days..the remix version.
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog
ReplyDeleteI need these earbuds because I have abnormally small ears, and I constantly have to adjust on my runs
ReplyDeleteI follow!
ReplyDeleteFavorite song to run to: Dog Days Are Over by Florence and the Machine
ReplyDeleteI need these because regular ear buds do not stay in my tiny ears. I tried these on at a recent marathon expo. I liked them, very comfortable, but I wanted to talk to someone who had actually used them before buying. I have spent a lot of money on headphones that don't work. I follow you.
ReplyDeleteI need these! I have tried to win these headphones on multiple sights but no luck so far. Hope this is the winning entry.
ReplyDeleteForgot to say that I "liked" their facebook page and I of course follow your blog. :)
ReplyDeleteI need these headphones because I need some that I can rely on that will stay in my ear and not get ruined with all my sweat!
ReplyDeletecommented on Auria's facebook page!
ReplyDeletesong I am listening to these days: Rolling in the Deep by Adele
ReplyDeletefollower!
ReplyDeleteand posted to my blog!
ReplyDeleteI broke my headphones. I am totally rocking those dorky ones that wrap around your ears. NOT comfortable or at all conducive to running. I look like a total dweeb.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite song to run to right now is "Fireworks" by Katy Perry.
ReplyDeleteI could ALWAYS use a new pair of head phones! i dont mind the apple ones that came with my ipod but these are pretty sweet!
ReplyDeletemy favorite song right now is give me everything by pitbull & friends
ReplyDeleteI need these as after a horrible first marathon experience, I am crazy enough to try again and could use a good pair of earphones for those long and lonely training runs!
ReplyDeleteI need them because I have been 3 pairs since August. I hate all of them because I can't find something that will stay comfortably in my ear.
ReplyDeleteFavorite song, On any given day by Carbonleaf
ReplyDeleteMy favorite song to run to right now is ET by Katy Perry, usually can't stand her but for some reason the beat on this one gets my going!
ReplyDeleteFollow on Google Reader.
ReplyDeleteI need these because every other type of earbud hurts my ears and gives me headaches! Def no bueno when you're focusing on other types of running pain! Fave song to run to? Anything on the new Foo Fighters album....man, I love those guys!
ReplyDeleteMy running headphones just broke and my heart is broken! These Auria ones look fantastic (and I just liked them on FB). My favorite song to run to these days is "Lose Yourself" by Eminem, because it keeps me going at the end.
ReplyDeleteI am a new fan and following you and will make a mention on FB too! Count me in for 5! Aloha!
I need fancy ear phones because my left ear has a mole in it (gross, yes) that makes most ear phones, like ipod ear buds, fall our easily but just from my left ear.
ReplyDeleteThis leaves me with one ear phone dangling, the other hanging steady.
My current favorite song to run to would be Rumors by Adele; it is especially good for hills.
ReplyDeleteI could really use a great set of headphones so that I can keep one in my gym bag. They always get so tangled in my purse!
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog!
ReplyDeleteI like to run to Young the Giant's "My Body" and recently have been digging back to Dixie Chick's "Not Ready to Make Nice."
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try these, My left ear is smaller than my right...I know, weird! So I usually only wear 1 bud. I wonder if these would work??? My favorite running song is Train's "Hey Soul Sister." I love your blog and FB posts!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't like to run with headphones but someitmes it's nice to rock climb in my local gym with headphones if i'm by myself. Pumps me up to climb! I already follow your blog....
ReplyDeleteI could use these headphones because I always have to wear the big dorky kind because I usualy can't get those little ear buds to stay in!! I would love to get out of 1992 style headphones!
