Bolder Boulder 10K Report

Great morning at the Bolder Boulder 10K. The shoes were lined up and ready to roll as we left the house at 6am:

The kids (+ Kathy) were in the backseat.

I hit the shitter and just made it to my wave in time to start running. I like to live on the edge.

I will say I am not in 10K shape. Sure I just ran a marathon a month ago, but I will say that I haven’t done speed in SO long. This race was hard for me. I was tired the whole time. By the end I wanted to puke up my bagel. But I told myself I would break 50 minutes and I did while almost retching. 49:29 (7:58 avg).

I know I have a faster 10k in me, but not right now.

Ken pushed the hell out of Sam, 13, and got him a new PR of 53:03.

Emma, 10, ran with my friend Kathy who was doing her first 10K. They rocked it out at 1:14. I am so proud of Kathy who literally started running ten months ago. She never thought she could do something like this!

It was great running weather but the minute I stopped running I started freezing, so we didn’t stick around for long. I get mean and ornery when I am cold.

I am just glad to be RACING again. This was my first race since August of last year before I got injured. Hallelujah! For all you injured souls out there, it DOES get better!

Just because you wear a hula outfit does not mean you are warm:

Got to go. I must be boring someone anonymous.

Happy Memorial Day. Go eat some BBQ.

  1. Excellent response! Love it.

Way to push that pace! 10Ks are supposed to hurt. ;)

CONGRATS to the whole family - awesome showing! Emma looks so cute in her skirt!

  2. That is awesome! Great weather for running. I skipped out this year since I'm still recovering a little but made myself do that distance anyway and I was a little bummed that I didn't bite the bullet and do the race anyway.

    p.s. I moved my blog :)

  3. Love your rockin' running family! Emma's skirt...too cute...looking a little cold there. Boring? Who says that? So funny...you are far from boring...many words to describe you beth but Boring isn't one of them. ballsy, humorous, intelligent, go-getter, crass at times (in a good way that doesn't go too far), energetic...but boring? ha! Maybe Anonymous was trying to be funny? LIke telling someone who just completed a marathon to stop being so lazy? Great job today! And your "rock" has been enjoying the good life...camping, beverages, and tunes...You even have a trophy.

  4. love the skirt emma. rock that! and boring? I'm not sure who that was....crazy person. Boring is never in the SUAR vocab.

  5. LOVE your blog. Anonymous is poopie. Loved seeing everyone at all levels pushing to what was outside their own comfort zone - that's the beauty of running - there is a challege and a goal for every single level. GREAT blog - keep it up. Loved that you barely made it to the can and to the start - that is SO ME. Helps get the adrenaline flowing. ;D

  6. anonymous = hater. I love stalking your blog =) So fun to see you all recovered from injury and racing!

  7. I think Anonymous is boring... if they were cool, they would come up with some sort of clever name or not hide behind the anonymous name. I'm just sayin'. How cool is it that it was a family affair?! Awesome push!

  8. Obviously Anonymous has a blog thats soooo much cooler they cant even post their name because they might feel bad for taking all your followers away from your boring blog.

    Excellent racing BTW!

  10. I kept looking at that picture of Kathy saying to myself "wow, Beth has really gone all out for the 10K". Lipstick n all! Then I scrolled down to you in front of the shitter. Now there's the Beth I know!

  12. Way to go SUAR family! Your son kicked my butt. My kids are 7 & 9 and after today's race they thought we should all do it next year as well. Can't wait! Oh - great costume Emma!

  13. I live on the edge like that, too…when I'm lucky :P that is a great return-to-racing time! Awesome! And you have some set o' legs on you, woman! They screech 'strong'! That comment was probably just an attention-seeking trouble-maker…and dang…you gave him some attention. I say him because it just seemed very 'guy', didn't it?

  14. Happy Memorial Day to you and your fam! The BB was awesome this morning... especially the free booze afterwards.

  15. Ha! Omg, what is wrong with people?! "Annonymous" shouldn't be a comment option.

Emma looks so cute in her race outfit!! I love that you guys ran this as a Family, you should be the poster fam for getting America to MOVE. Congrats on the 10K - speediest or not, by Dean's standards you ran as hard as you could for today :)

  16. Looks like a great way to spend Memorial Day - love that the whole family did the run - a great tradition. And at first glance, your friend kathy does look a little like you. ;-)

  17. Awesome time for not doing speed! I'm not sure who's blog this anonymous person is reading, but I've never been bored over here! What a hater.

  21. Nice work Beth! I think you're missing out on a sponsorship opportunity. Sure ... Athleta is more fancy, but Waste Management seems like such an obvious sponsor. A win/win for everyone. That pre-race picture should be all they need to see.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Uh-mazing someone would make a comment like that. Anonymous too, what a weasel.

Congrats to the entire SUAR fam for great races, especially Mama Bear who is picking up some speed!

  29. Aw, I love family races! Too bad if I ran with my family they'd kick my booty and leave me miles behind, drinking warm and watery Gatorade.

  30. Anonymous...your comment is boring.
Onto more exciting news, love that your whole family raced, this is so incredible!

  33. Wow, I can't wait for the day that I consider 10K to be a short, sprinty race! I've only been running for about 9 months and they still seem like "long runs" to me!

How awesome that your whole family runs, and your friends too!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Well I love your boring blog, if Anonymous really want a boring blog he/she/it should read mine!!!

  47. I just started following your blog and it is NOT boring! Every day is not going to be exciting, but you write it so wonderfully (and funny, might I add) and we aren't expecting you to be Wonder Woman every day (because, ya know, that's me!) lol

    Love ya!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Poor emma...she looks like she's freezing!! I think it's awesome that you ran this as a family! Hopefully someday, I'll get to do that with my boys too!

  49. I don't post often, but I read every post... and Mr. Anonymous has goaded me into saying something. Boring? Seriously? Mr. A. must have a seriously underdeveloped sense of humor.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Congrats to you and your family.

The Bolder Boulder was the first race I ever ran - I was 11 and lived in Boulder at the time. My dad, my sister and I did it; and we're going to fly out next year for our 30 year anniversary and run it together again.

  54. Once you put on the Womens Slipper, you will feel high flexibility from them, they are not afraid of oil and high temperature. The only problem is, they usually rubber slippers are very heavy, you need to get used to it.

If you are not satisfied with slippers on, why not have a look the slippers for chewing gum outsole. These slippers material is rubber, which is transparent to the appearance, but you can choose black or yellow. A good bit of chewing gum outsole brown monkey slippers for adults is their soft, elastic, and has good friction resistance.

  60. Most kids like to play games online at school.Thousand of students had access to computers at school and want to play single or 2 player unblocked games.
This website has more than twenty categories to discover.Ofcourse you can play offline a lot of quality video mario games.
I prefer online as these are free and most of them can be played in full screen.
Many businesses and schools had restricted access to malicious or otherwise inappropriate websites on their networks. Anyway, a variety of proxy sites offer access to hard websites like flash or unity games.
Many of these sites advertise specifically to children as a free and fun way to play kizi games at school.
Although these games are normally blocked on the network by the operating system, the proxy server acts as an intermediary in that, to the network, it appears that the user is simply browsing the proxy site when he or she is actually playing games or are surfing on i8napropiate websites for adults or other.
So using our proxy server you are able to play at work or at school and nobody know.
No matter what you play puzzle, action, dressup, skill or solitaire card you can load all at any time.
The website offer the oportunity to discover new or popular many flash, unity or html5 math games. If you like bookworm popcap game you can play it here on pc, tablet or ipad.
To play it on smartphone you will be redirected to the mobile version where you play also unic games in single or 2 player and in full screen.
Still there are available brain games who will help your brain to stay young and healthy keeping you away of disease.
Most played are 2 player where you can chose to play it even in single player vs computer.
No need to remember the mobile version adress ,just remember only the top domain and based on your device dimensions you will be redirected by browser.
