Anna Kournikova–Really?

I got my eyes dilated today. I have big pupils. You know what they say about big pupils, don’t you? Me neither. But, I’m sure there’s some Chinese proverb. “He who have big pupil…”

P1090957

And, yeah, I need an eyebrow wax. Even people with dilated pupils can see that.

Getting my eyes dilated makes me depressed. I can’t read. All I want to do is sleep. Makes me wonder if blind people are tired all the time.

I am not too tired or blind, however, to wonder what you think about something. The new trainer replacing Ms. Jillian on the Biggest Loser.

Anna Kournikova.

Yes, she is smoking hot. Yes, she has legs beyond her ass clear up through her pupils.

kournikova2

Yes, she is an amazing athlete with a long list of credentials. World tennis champ and all that.

kournikova

But, does she have what it takes for the show?

Okay, so she’s a “licensed trainer.” But, has she specialized in helping people with weight loss? She talks about leading a healthy lifestyle, which I’m sure is true (just look at her!), but how does this translate in her being able to assist the everyday morbidly obese couch potato in not only losing weight, but tackling the issues that got him/her there in the first place? Maybe I’m missing something and she’s got more to offer than I know.

TBL says it wants to “move away from just the tape measure, and getting into overall well being and health."

I hate to see the show lose its roots of helping the “common man” work towards dropping significant poundage while having insights into why overeating occurred initially. I think this is exactly why so many people find the show inspiring: real people who are relatable. Real people who accomplish something amazing when they are given the tools and opportunity. Yes, the show may be extreme and not “real life,” but there have been some impressive results.

My opinion? I think TBL sold out. They went with eye candy, someone who they knew might attract viewers. When you Google Anna images, you will be hard pressed to find a picture of her playing tennis or doing anything athletic. It’s all bikinis, modeling and Maxim. I had to scroll down quite a while to find the above tennis picture.

She’s hard-on material for sure, but hard core weight loss trainer? I’m not convinced. Hope she proves me wrong.

You have to figure TBL had their choice of the best trainers in the world for this show. Interesting pic for sure.

I also read the Brett and Cara will not be back. Who will the other two new trainers be? Mario Lopez and Jessica Simpson? Maybe Enrique Iglesias.

What do you think about the changes? Just cause she’s in shape and has a killer figure, does that qualify her?

SUAR

PS: Changing back to my old way of comments. I hate this new way (visually), but I know Blogger was having trouble, so I switched. If you can’t leave a comment, please email me or FB me and let me know.

  1. I was REALY surprised by the whole Anna K reveal. Agreed that it's a sell-out. Will be interesting. Also sad to read that Brent & Kara won't be back - I really liked them!

And... you can pretty much see the outline of her vag in those red shorts. :S

  2. That's crazy! The last few pictures I saw of her she was actually very anorexic looking, it was really sad. Wonder if she ate a few burgers since then? I don't really associate her with fitness the way I do Jillian Michaels. I associate her more with, um, boob shots and looking pretty. She wasn't even a very good tennis player was she (although she could kick my ass). I should stop hating, maybe tomorrow.

  3. I have to agree with you here. She certainly will draw more viewers, but I believe for the wrong reasons. Don't get me wrong, I work and train hard and she has a body that warrants admiration. But you are right...I do not think she is the right person for this role...

  4. would you be creeped out if i told you my eyes always looked that dialated? :)

    ReplyDelete
  5. I was really disappointed by them choosing Anna. It seems like a joke to me. I doubt she's ever struggled with her weight in her life.

Now if Enrique Iglesias could be my personal trainer, I'd be all over that.

  6. I absolutely hate getting my eyes dilated. I think it's miserable.

I totally agree with the Anna thing...I don't get it? I do think it's just for ratings, I don't think she's got what it takes, but who knows maybe she will surprise everyone.

  7. I was definitely disappointed. Are they trying to attract a male audience?? There are plenty of awesome trainers out there that would do a fantastic job. Couldn't the show showcase some up-and-coming trainers in the fitness world instead of someone off the cover of a magazine? I'll keep an open mind. I have been a loyal watcher since the first season. I was super skeptical about the show when it started, but it hooked me. I even liked the Kim seasons, so who knows?

  8. i think it is bad the whole show is how we need to improve HEALTH not HOTNESS. i feel sorry for the contestants who have to deal with having her strut around. it is mentally not a good thing for any woman, never mind an overweight woman.

btw - i had a dream with you in it...strange i know, even stranger - i wet my pants in the dream????

    ReplyDelete
  9. I think Jillian Michaels is just as hot. She will be missed.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Yup hate the idea of her and posted on my FB about it last week. The only people to come to her defense, two dudes. Listing all of her accomplishments. They should have had a former loser be a trainer NOW that would have inspirational.

  11. Thumbs down from me on the whole Anna thing. Remember when she was on for a challenge a season or two ago? It was almost painful to watch her try and interact with the contestants....she was so unbelievably awkward! It was awful. Not looking forward to her on the show at all. I hadn't heard that about Brett and Cara either-bummer!

And back to an earlier post about TBL-I missed the marathon too. I was disappointed that they didn't do it this time around. Then the whole Rulon thing...all sorts of weirdness this past season!

    ReplyDelete
  12. And you totally need your brows waxed! My waxer talked me into having my entire face waxed last week. How? Well, for the past six months all I have heard is "you have hairy face...i fix for you" and I, finally, let her. I love this woman. She is awesome. But it hurt and I don't know if I would do it again...

    ReplyDelete
  13. Yeah, boo to that. PS you have great lashes.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I don't like the whole Anna thing..but who knows maybe she will change my mind. I actually liked Bret and Kara...I thought they held their own against bob and jill...oh well

    ReplyDelete
  15. down with Anna K! Not a cool choice at all.

Last time I got my eyes checked they gave me an option to get my eyes scanned instead of dialated. It was awesome! They took a digital picture of the inside of my eye - all I had to do was put my eye up to a machine and endure 2 seconds of fairly bright light. Totally painless and no dialation!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I was disappointed about Anna too. And shocked. She looked anorexic when she walked out on stage. It seemed awkward. Although in the tennis pic you have above, she looks fab! I really missed the marathon part of the show too, I always look forward to that. I know Jillian wants to move on, but she was the best, and I don't think anyone could replace her!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I was super suprised too! I'm not too enthusiastic about the changes either.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Yeah I thought the choice was stupid when TBL announced it. I felt the same after reading your post and was nodding my head in agreement with you. Then I Googled Anna images and completely changed my mind and am looking forward to next season (-:

    ReplyDelete
  19. I give her one season. They probably think she will boost the ratings, but I doubt she will be as inspirational as the other trainers, hence the one season prediction. Maybe she'll surprise us all.

    ReplyDelete
  20. i have watched the show on and off over the years and can’t believe they are choosing her. totally agree with you. she is eye candy and not qualified. pick a personal trainer--not a famous model, i mean, athlete.

    ReplyDelete
  21. i've met her before at a kswiss event, that girl is gonna crack! should be entertaining though. haha.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I was so mad when I found out it was her. It was a total sell out! They could have done so much better. The show won't be the same without Jillian as it is, but to replace her with Anna? Really?

    ReplyDelete
  23. ug. I totally agree. I was completely disgusted when I saw her come onto the show. Has she ever struggled with her weight? How will she relate to the contestants? Will she understand the psychological issues behind the weight issues? Has she ever had true self worth/confidence issues? I doubt it at all. Despite being a fan for many seasons, I think I'm out now. BL is dead to me. Phooey. Doubt Ana can pull it off.

  25. ADREED! I was very disappointed when I found out. Yeah, she is skinny and hot but she just does not have the credibility to be on TBL...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Really? Anna? I would never have guessed that. I can't see it, but I hope she proves me wrong!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm in the dark about TBL. But I can assure you that if hottie !K wears her total camel-toe shorts while having a prominent role, they are going to corner the male-viewer market…entirely. A stroke of programming genius. Sex sells.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I was surprised by this too. I love TBL but it may be tough t watch next year.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Even A K isn't going to get me watching the show, and it doesn't matter what she's wearing.

    ReplyDelete
  30. When I saw her at the finale I thought she looked GROSSLY thin. And YAY to Kara leaving, I didn't like her at all!

I'm interested to see how Anna deals, I'm a HUGE Jillian fan.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I wasn't too worried about Jillian leaving until I saw who the new trainer was going to be. Gag. Not excited about that at all. I'm sure I'll watch it one just to see what it's like, but that's probably all I'm going to end up watching. :( Sad they had to go and ruin such a good show, but we'll see what happens in a few months I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Googling "Anna images"............................................ aaaaaaand now for a snack.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I was disappointed that they picked her. Maybe she'll prove me wrong and be great, but I loved Jillian's psychological take on the contestants. I am relieved that Kara and Brett are not the new trainer. I just couldn't take it when they did their "spontaneous" commercials. I have a feeling Anna will be no better (even though she's done camera commercials). I think they went with name recognition when they picked Anna - plus, Kara and Brett lost all their contestants which made their methods look ineffective for the big changes the show is known for.

I'll watch to see what happens and may keep watching just to see Bob. Perhaps there will be lots of Bob eye rolls at Anna...here's hoping!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'll put on weight to be trained by Anna.

    ReplyDelete
  35. You could argue that just because she's beautiful and does a lot of modelling doesn't mean she can't be a good trainer too. Maybe you are judging her by her looks - give her a try. (Just playing devil's advocate - I love Jillian).

    ReplyDelete
  36. Don't get me going on this.
As you may recall--I was 100+lbs heavier a lttle over 2 years ago and TBL was a show that I enjoyed watching. I learned a lot from JM at the time (from her radio show) and then she started with these diet pills and crap. Then the show became more of a game show. Now Bob is hawking diet pills and cleanses AND they are putting on Anna? PAAAAHLEEEEEEEZE. The whole thing is dissapoiting mess now -- more product plugs, etc. I did not even watch this past season.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Bad move, BL. Bad move. I just don't think it's possible to take her seriously after her tabloid antics. And though I don't want to take away anything from licensed trainers, there are so many certifications out there and not all of them are difficult to get.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I thought it was a slap in the face to all fitness professionals in the world by choosing her. There are soo many good people that would have loved the chance to be on that show and they chose someone who already is famous! I think they sold out also and while I don't hope that she hurts anyone I do hope that she "fails" so a real trainer can get in there....I hope she proves us wrong!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yeah, I'm not loving their chose either. And I don't really see the need for the other two trainers.

    ReplyDelete
  40. As a health professional (RD) I have becoming increasingly disappointed about the direction of this show. While I originally thought it could be inspiring to clients it has become nothing more than an hour (or 2)of poorly placed product sales gimmicks. Most of these products would not be considered by any sound practitioner. This "Anna" thing is the last straw. Now I have begun telling clients that the show is not realistic.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Bad, bad, bad decision! She's a tennis star and a pin-up, not a personal trainer. Such a bad decision. Hello, did TBL have trouble with ratings. No! There was no reason for them to stoop this low. And I've got a feeling she has ZERO personality. And I guarantee that when she's not in earshot the contests will say "Skinny Bitch!"

    ReplyDelete
  42. I am not impressed with this new trainer. I think it's time to stop watching the show and spend the time working out..

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm pretty bummed that JM is leaving BL. I don't really follow AK so I only know something about tennis in relation to her. I will watch the show but really am not drawn to it like I was with JM on the show.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think Biggest Loser has always been about looks. My understanding is that Jillian Michaels was chosen because she looked the part and had a good story to go with it. I'm pretty sure she wasn't even a trainer when they asked her to be on the show.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Kudos to you for getting your eyes dilated! It's important to make sure your eyes are healthy--plus it's what I do all day every day. :)

I stopped watch TBL a while ago--I too, hate all the ads and gimmicks. I just want to see fat people lose weight and become healthy.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I completely agree...I don't think she is going to do good things for the show but I could be wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Is AK sporting a camel toe in that pic? Just sayin'

But anyway it is beyond stupid that she is on there. I love BL but this is a disgrace to have her. First off her accent alone is going to kill the show.

I am getting disappointed in BL. First no marathon and then no send-off for JM and now AK.....ugh!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yeah, REALLY bummed about Anna coming on. I definitely think they sold out.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I know! Was really surpised.

and funny...USAT (triathlon) sent out a blast to all coaches that BL was doing a cast call and send in an app if interested in applying. Well...yah I turned in an app! and never heard from em...

Guess our invite was really meant for the USAT (tennis) assoc!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Yeah, I wasn't super excited either. Frankly, I don't think there's much substitute for Bob and Jillian, and I expect the show to really change now, and not for the better. Maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised though. In any case, I WOULD kill for a set of abs like Anna K's.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I think it sucks. Anna is just a ploy to get more guys to watch the show. I don't care for her at all...

    ReplyDelete
  52. I don't think she is quailified as a trainer for TBL. Coaching people through massive rapid weight loss is not the same as training someone in a gym for fitness. This show's mo is to try and deal with not only the physical bad habits that got these people to the condition they are in but also the mental issues many of them are dealing with. Is she quailified or experinced in that? Not any more than I am!
Although I think Jillian had become a bit too concerned about furthering her image/career (and who won't take advantage of the opportunity really?) I think the belief the contestants have in the trainers is often a big component in allowing them to believe that they CAN finally lose the weight and get healthy. They don't believe in themselves or they would have done it on their own. It will be interesting to see how effictive she is in establishing their trust and faith.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Once I saw your post title, I HAD to read your thoughts!! Agreed. Do I wanna be/look-like her? Yes. Is she qualified to train obese individuals with a multitude of health issues lose weight? Um, jury is still out. What works for professional athletes may not be a 400 pounder's cup-o-tea!

    Love your eye color!

I know I will be watching BL but through a critical lens!

    ReplyDelete
  54. not a TBL fan, but I think AK is a sell out move.

  55. Anna has never had to struggle with weight loss. I don't think that the contestants will relate to her or be motivated when she is "yelling" at them. I will give TBL about 2 shows then I will probably use that time to catch up on my DVR shows.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'm not impressed. Jillian she is not. TBL isn't going to be the same without the Bob and Jillian duo. They compliment each other.

Plus, Jillian has dealt with weight issues. She knows how to deal with the psychological aspect of weight loss. Somehow I don't see Anna screaming, "If you're not passed out, puking, or dying, keep walking!"

    ReplyDelete
  57. Eye candy is still healthier than real candy, right?

    ReplyDelete
  58. I don't watch TBL, but I agree they may have gone for eye candy. Just like Survivor and a whole bunch of other shows I used to dig.

I would like to look like her though.....probably like two more pounds would do it.
    Oh. I kill me.

    ReplyDelete
  59. So I don't watch TBL; regardless, I'm not sure it's a great idea to hire someone who has repeatedly had to deny that she has an eating disorder.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Honestly, how can you judge so quickly and say they are choosing eye candy? Jillian is eye candy and she was great. If you google Jillian, her pics are pretty smokin' too.

I have nothing against Anna (or for her for that matter) but if she's a licensed trainer, I'd give her a chance. She may be awesome!

You mentioned TBL selling out...but you didn't mention who you think would be better? Who would you choose?

P.S. The 4th google pic is of Anna playing tennis.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Paula - it's just an gut feeling. I could be totally off base and I said that. I wish they had highlighted what she has to offer specifically for the position, you can't find that listed anywhere. She can play some mean tennis, but I wanted more. And my point about google was that she is famous for tennnis supposedly, but 90% of the pictures have nothing to do with that.

I don't know who would be better. I don't know who the thousands of candidates are that they have in their pool, but I'm guessing there are some good ones. I don't think the person needs to be a celebrity, though.

  63. Biggest Loser will never be the same without original trainers Blob and Jigglin (wait, that sounds wrong). But it's been an unrelatable show for a while anyway - who can relate to someone who had to drop 150 lbs. just to be on the show at 400? The healthy eating advice peppered with product placement always makes me laugh (do you think they'd be saying eat Jello otherwise: Cow hoofs, sugar and chemicals?)

Back in a minute with another snide comment - have to look something up.

    ReplyDelete
  64. The tennis star they should get is Simona Halep. She recently had surgery removing about 10 ounces.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngHGVqfv3J0

    ReplyDelete
  65. I'm not so sure about her either, although I'll definitely be watching. I do like that they are moving towards teaching the contestants sports (boxing and possibly tennis) than just how to exercise. I always thought they should do more things that are sports people could really get into rather than just running on treadmills. I hope this works out for the contestants!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I think I might have to agree with you, I didn't like that they picked Anna, just because I'm not sure she has the experience to work with overweight people. Jillian actually used to be overweight in her younger years so she could relate but Anna has always been gorgeous. I just hope that she doesn't make me turn away from the show, because I'm a big Biggest Loser fan. Guess we shall see.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I'm disappointed like most of your readers are.. I don't know why they chose her. sigh

    ReplyDelete
  68. Are you KIDDING??? I'm a closet biggest loser fan. I think it's inspiring, in TV-L.A.-ish kind of way. However, I'm pretty sure that I'd make a better trainer that Anna . . .I really think her presence will make the contestants feel like garbage. I hope I'm proven wrong. Jillian was very good at getting in touch w/ contestants' mental baggage and obstacles, and was hard but compassionate with them.
I can't believe I just devoted an entire paragraph to TBL. Ha!

    ReplyDelete
  69. I so agree with you! Plus I have always heard that she is not a very nice person.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Will try to be open minded, but may be easier said than done. I just wish they had selected a non-celebrity, a person who has been there. Losing that kind of weight has such a huge mental side, I'll be surprised if Anna can handle that with the justice and care it warrants. Jillian found the right balance, a tough act to follow.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Didn't she do a guest spot on TBL last season? I wasn't that impressed---I think they need someone who can be tough, yet effective. I don't see Anna as being tough.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I am not impressed with their selection - no one can replace jillian and certainly not AK. I didn't know Brent & Kara were not returning until I read your post - that also sucks. I think the four of them did a good job and all brought different things to the table for the contestants. I'll still watch but I'm skeptical...

    ReplyDelete
  73. Why are you all knocking the poor girl, I think she is going to be really good. she has been at the top of the world and really should have had a couple of years up there, but she chould never keep the eye of the ball for long enough to be a world beater. She must have had her coachin tears, all the talent wasted (I've seen it through my club) she took the easy way out to make money. there is no easy way out when she goes head to head with Bob.
As much as I want to watch Jillian!!! I wanted Bob's team to win.

I'm know what it is like to start a new year and think here we go again what new can I put on the program so keep it alive I think her training will be different and exciting.

    It's going to be great.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I'm not too sure about the choice either. Maybe she'll be great and she'll kick their butts with some tennis workouts, but I was surprised they picked her. I also thought she looked unhealthy skinny at the finale. Time will tell though. Maybe if they are going to start going the professional athlete angle they can bring in random athletes throughout the show to lead workouts.

    ReplyDelete
  75. She never took what she did seriously when she was a "professional" tennis player. She smokes (Not so "healthy" after all, huh?) and I've read that her house is notably missing a tennis court (I don't know what to say about THAT...lol).She is just an overrated skinny, bleached out woman, that's all.But let's look at it this way...For the first time in her life, she has a proper job...unless she messes up again...lol...
