Catch Me If You Can! Skirt Chaser 5K

image

Last year I was the volunteer coordinator for the Skirt Chaser 5K in Denver. This year I am one of the race ambassadors, so I am trying to get the word out about this fun event. If you will be in and/or around Denver on Saturday, October 1st, about 3:00 pm, consider running and block partying with us at Invesco Field (where the Broncos play-name has recently been changed to the Sports Authority Field).

Why you should do it:

  • Ladies start first - 3 minutes ahead of the men! Can the testosterone catch the estrogen?
  • Singles are encouraged to wear a sticker to signify their "availability." Stickers are distributed in the expo before the race start. Maybe you will meet your future spouse on October 1. Or at least have a fun hook up.
  • The post-race Block Party includes live music, great food, free beer and stage entertainment.  Did someone say beer?
  • Race entry ($55) includes:
    • Kick Start Skirt by Skirt Sports (retails for $59.99)
    • Skirt Sports Backpack-style Sling Bag
    • Skirt Chaser 5k Race Entry
    • Block Party Entry - Live Music, 2 Drink Tickets, Free Food, and Post-Race Entertainment

(Note: there is also a skirtless option for $35, but you get all the other goodies)

Here is the Skirt Sports skirt you get with entry:

Cute built-in pink boy shorts underneath:

Keep in mind, this is not just a race, it’s a weekend social event!! I can attest to the fact that last year this was a blast. A rockin’ band played and the beer flowed (you may remember this video that I’m not so proud of, I never said I had rhythm).

Sign up online HERE.

Come join me! I’m pretty fun to be around when I am doing some of my favorite things, running, drinking beer and being chased by men.

Are you in???

PS: My Yellowman running shirt giveaway goes on until Friday, so go enter HERE!

  1. Pout. For me, the cost would also include a RT flight from Boston. Sounds like a great event :)

  2. That sounds like so much fun. My hubby just started running, so something like that would be great for us to do in half a year.

    Sadly, too far away though...

  3. Is there an option of pre race packet pick up? I might be able to get off work a little early and make it to the race, but I'd be cuttin it close to the start time!

  4. Kara, yes, there will be pre-race packet pick up the day before. I am not sure the time or where yet, though. Can let you know!

  5. I wish this was on the east coast too! I would love this!

  6. if only I lived in Denver. I have a skirt sport skirt and I LOVE it. I have "athletic" thighs and am knock kneed so I get chafing and most running skirts are too short. My skirtsport is exactly the length I need. I love it!

  7. Hmmmm, I'll think about doing the race, it was a blast watching it last year. If I don't race and you need volunteers, I would be happy to help out again this year!

  8. Oh My Goodness! I would LOVE to run it and get all those awesome goodies!!!! *whaaaa!* We need a Skirt Chaser 5k in the Carolina's!

  10. Why is it when I came across this race a couple weeks ago, I knew that you were going to participate in it in some way :) I am thinking of signing up for the race to get a feel of running in that area since I'm running the Denver Rock 'n Roll half the following weekend.

And I've been secretly wanting a running skirt--and if I can get one for free--then that's just a huge perk!

    screaming deal!!

  12. I've been wishing they'd bring it to SF ever since I first heard about it! Any chance?

  13. You can make anything look good Beth!! I'd totally chase your skirt...TWSS!

  14. cool skirt found you through Run Sanity. I don't like in the states, but I plan on finding out how I can get myself a cool racing skirt :D

  15. That is a lot of swag for a reasonable fee! I'd be all over it.

  16. Did you have to go to the bathroom in the video? Now that you are a triathlete you don't have to do the potty dance anymore and can just let it flow. One of the key reasons I renew my USAT membership every year.....LOL!

That sounds like a super cool race and tons of fun. I need to move to Longmont.....

  17. Woohoo!!! I'm running as one of the Personal Motivators! Will be fun to see you again and see your moves in person. :)

  18. OMG! I wish I had time for a trip to Denver (and not just because I need to stop dating non-athletic guys. lol)!

  19. I did this race in Atlanta last year and loved it! sadly it didn’t make it back this year. highly recommend!

  20. Not a huge fan of the skirt. I actually gave mine from last year away. I did NOT like the event last year. In August at 5:00??? I almost died of heat stroke. October is a much more reasonable time of year and I bet the course is better. Probably won't run it this year though because I'm doing Bear Chase the weekend before and Denver RnR the weekend after.

  21. Must add that even though the heat made it miserable I thoroughly enjoyed my Chipotle at the end! And... it was the first time I used a port-o-potty that FLUSHED.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh...I may actually be able to do it this year! Yay!! :)

  23. We need more races that give away skirts. Shirts are so passe. Of course, you wear race shirts as skirts... ;)

  24. I didn't know you were an ambassador, I thought we were done with that race. Hahah. Good luck!!

  25. That sounds too close and too fun to pass up! I am pretty sure even with a three minute head start that the boys will pass me. Oh well it still sounds fun!

  26. Beth, even if there is an early packet pick up I don't think I am going to be able to make it due to already having a full day of clients booked. But you should send information to The Bat Method. Both the Cherry Creek and Boulder studios are owned by Leslie Rosenberg, she is great. I am sure she would put up the info in the studios for all of the ladies to see.

  27. I would love to come. Sounds like fun. But I'll be doing a half marathon the day after.

When I first read about the skirtless option, I was thinking that not many of you would go for it, till I realized it was like the no shirt option some races have. Nothing to do with what you're wearing while running. Though that might draw a bigger crowd.

    ReplyDelete
  28. what a fun race :) Bummer we don't have a race like that around here! LOVE the shirt and skirt...too cute!

    HAVE FUN!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hmmm... I'm trying to decide if I'll like a running skirt or not. $55 is a hefty price if I end up hating the skirt. To run or not to run...

  30. Sounds like a great event! Sounds like so much fun.

  31. I'm on the SC5K event promotion side & just wanted to chime in. Chipotle won't be at the event this year, but EVOL Foods and Mad Greens will. Along with Barefoot Wine & lots of other great vendors (including beer!). We are super excited about the new date & venue - hope many of you can make it. Many Rock n Rollers are doing it as a pre-race fun run. If you sign-up for the Skirtless option & then realize you really must must must have a Skirt, you can upgrade at the event. Sign up solo & you meet the runner of your dreams :). OR make it a date night! If you have any other questions, feel free to email me directly: maria@smakstrategies.com.
