100 Seconds to Reflect

If you have a moment -  100 seconds to be exact – please watch this video/podcast done by Olympic runner, Carrie Tollefson, about the Virtual Run for Sherry.  In all of the chaos surrounding Sherry’s disappearance, I have been very good at stuffing down my grief about this tragedy and how it has devastated a family. My family. This podcast brought tears of reflection about the magnitude of what happened, and the power of this run we are all doing.

If you are “getting after it” by pinning on Sherry’s bib, you are part of a collective and massive movement for healing. You are part of an effort to expand goodness. You are sharing your despair, grief and anger with your community, which allows these feelings to resonate and to be validated. You are remembering Sherry by doing something she loved. You are the light edging out and defeating darkness. So, thank you.

We will be passing out the bibs at our last home basketball game on Friday! God Bless all of Sherrys family and friends!

  18. Four of my nephews (ages 4, 6, 7, and 7) will be running their first ever road race on the 11th - a one miler in Sherry's memory. I am mindful of the fact that their very first run will have such significance. We will be saying a prayer for Sherry and her family and friends (including you) before our run. Will post pics and blog about it...I have very mixed feelings because I am very excited (as are they) about their first race...but with a respectful attitude for Sherry. We will be running at the "Run for the Cookies" sponsored by the Girl Scouts in Tallahassee, FL, and will have extra bibs for others who have expressed an interest in running for Sherry.

  25. Again, I'm so sorry your family had to go through this.

I will not be able to run on Saturday...so I strong armed the only other mommy runner I know IRL to do it (sidenote: She read the story and was immediately on board. No strong arming necessary). She's not just any runner, either, so she's got a big group on a mission now. They'll be running in Zelienople, PA in Sherry's memory.

  26. We'll be running here in Sidney on Sat. morning and I just had to tell you about my daughter's comment concerning how cold it's predicted to be here during that time. While neither of us actually knew Sherry, my daughter did have her as a volleyball referee a few times so we both knew who she was, and when I was trying to make sure my 12-yr-old would be ok out running with temp's likely to be in the negative, her reaction was that she was sure Sherry wasn't comfortable when all that happened to her, so if she (my daughter) wasn't comfortable during the run, well, that's just how it's going to be. I think the kids here are feeling this far more than any of us even know, Kim
