$50 Active Headbands Giveaway!

Women (and men) have that bothersome thing called hair that gets in their face, gets dirty and can be an overall hassle. If my face wasn’t so ugly I would just shave my head. But, since I cannot do that, I spend my days with my locks in a pony tail or stuffed into a hat.

I was happy to agree to do a review for Active Headbands because they promised me the bands would not slip. Plus, the product is super cute. I have a fairly skinny head (must be all those head push ups I do), and I have a lot of trouble with bands staying in place when I work out. Hence, I never wear them. I selected two bands to try out, the black and white polka dot and the floral.

P1100277

I am hoping the headband detracts from my pointy nose and wiry neck.

P1100278

I pranced and jumped around the house in them trying to get them to slip, but they wouldn’t, so I decided to put one to the ultimate test and take it on a nice ten mile run.

I suspected that the band would do what all of my bands do and start to slide off my head about a mile into the run. Nope. This band stayed in place the entire run; I never had to mess with it. There is a small piece of elastic in the back that regulates the size of the headband and keeps it snug.  I think they looks kind of sassy and chic, n’est-ce pas?

If you want to look like a real jock, you could wear them like a true headband (kind of like Ryan does on the No More Bacon blog).

P1100279

There are so many fun prints and styles to choose from including glitter and animal prints. They range in price from $8.99 to $10.99.

Active Headbands wants to give away a $50 gift card to one lucky winner. To enter (leave  comment for each):

  5. Ugh, I have the teeniest, tiniest head - my five year old son and I wear the same hat size. I can never, ever find a band that stays on my head, they always shoot off the back.
So...I normally slick back my hair into a pony and then hairspray the crap out of it. Actually, the only time I use hairspray is when I workout. Weird, huh?

I typically use barrettes to keep the front shorter pieces out of my eyes, while piling the rest of it up on top of my head in a ponytail. Eventually the sweat will keep it all back, out of my eyes!

  18. I gave up on headbands as they always slip back on my head, so now I use clips and try to run fast enough that my hair blows OUT of my face, not in it! (Not successfully, I might add!)

I's absolutely LOVE a headband that stays put for a run!!

    Lori.

  19. I pull my messy, curly, frizzy hair back into a ponytail bun and then try to contain it with a visor.

  20. I currently use bondi bands but they're so BIG. I have a teeny head too so they cover up half my head.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I run and run so my hair is so sweaty, it just sticks to the side of my head :P

    ReplyDelete
  22. How do I manage my hair on a run?? My long mop is at constant war with South Florida heat and humidity. I step outside and I'm walking in soup, dripping in sweat. So usually I throw it up in a ponytail and wait for the sweat to slick it back for me...would love to win the gift card, so at least I could look cute while sweating ;)

  23. I am currently growing my hair long so I can wear it in a pony for my first marathon in November. Needless to say, I need help keeping my hair back! The little bands from Wal-Mart aren't cutting it these days. Active Headbands look so stinking cute...I can't wait to order one!

I liked Active Headbands on FB.

I read your blog every day...love you! (Not in a creepy way!)

    ReplyDelete
  24. I also have a skinny head and headbands almost never work, so I'd love to put these to the test. How have I been dealing with it? I stuff my hair in a hat usually. But I think those glittery bands are pretty fun looking! I liked the Active Headbands on FB, already follow you... so count me in for 3 entries!! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  25. to keep my hair out of my face i either ponytail it, other bands that frustrate me, or put a hat on it...nothing creative

    ReplyDelete
  26. I usually wear a goody headband and always end up fixing it about 700 times during my run.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Now following Active Bands, 'liked' them on FB! I already follow you, love your blog, it makes me laugh. During runs, I wear a hat with my hair in a ponytail pulled through the void above the adjustable strap. During spin class I wear a non-slip headband from another company that is located in Canada and begins with 'L' and ends in 'lemon'! I have a big head, most skinny headband are too tight so I am always in the market for a new headband.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Right now I use BIC bands, which I love.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I have a GIANT head (it must be because I can't do push-ups) and headbands always pop off my noggin. I gave up and wear a hat....but I'd love to try a headband again!

  30. I braid a strip in the front and then pull all of it back in a pony tail. Nothing else will keep my hair out of my face.

  33. Looks cool, but I have quite the bulbous noggin, and I am pretty sure it would cut off circulation to my head. Probably not a good thing. :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Followed, liked, and already follow! I, too, am cursed with a pea head, but if I position it juuuuust right, I can sometimes get away with one of those elastic grippy headbands. I often resort to my Victory Visor (yay, Athleta!) or lots of clips.
Would LOVE to try something cute AND functional!

  35. Following the Active Headbands blog and liked their FB page!

Glad to hear these worked well for you. I'd love to try these myself. I've used a baseball cap to keep my hair off my face, but lately I've been wearing sunglasses and no hat...the hair issue is back.

Love the third picture, btw. Made me smile. :) xo

  36. I use a pony tail holder and have never had good luck with headbands so I just deal with my unruly hair. Would love to find some that actually work.

  39. Already a follower and now follow the active bands blog and liked on fb. These look very similar to sweaty bands which also stay in perfect place. Unfortunately I pour sweat when I run so I have found bondibands to help a TON for this...but for workouts in the a/c at the gym and stuff like that headbands like these (or a hat) are perfect (and very cute!).

    ReplyDelete
  40. Right now, my hair is long enough for a ponytail and that does a pretty good job. I plan on cutting it short soon, and a headband would come in use...

    ReplyDelete
  41. I wear a bondi band (that I just bought a couple of weeks ago). Before that, there was just a lot of cursing and hair flinging involved.

  73. I keep my hair out of my face (or try to anyways) with a hat or a lame looking headband that falls out...I would love to try out some of these because they are cute and look like they won't slip!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Usually I just use bobby pins. :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. Now following AB blog, now like them on FB. Since my head seems to be abnormally huge, I usually can't wear any of the headbands out there. They're usually too tight and slip right off after about 10 steps. So I just wear a hat, or a Buff, or a bandana in a pinch. I'd really like to try something that isn't so bulky and stays put for once.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Following both blogs, liked them on FB! I keep my hair back with barrettes and bobby pins. Would much prefer something cuter!!! I've never been able to keep headbands on my head either :)

This giveaway is right up my alley cause my hair drives me crazy when i run. I cant stand to have it flop in my face. I wear a cap but its so stinkin' hot now i burn up. My head is small and most bands dont fit me... please pick me! I will tell all my friends and family about you and you will have my endless devotion... thanks!

  89. A pony and visor. I have tried multiple headbands and like you, can not get the things to stay on my head. If these really work, I would love one!

  91. I'm following the Active Bands blog and Facebook page. Am already subscribed to your blog. My hair is short, because it is wild and curly. I pull it back with a headband or pin it down with a thousand bobby pins. I hate when my hair gets in my face!

  97. my hair is long and i usually pull it into a ponytail or messy bun and stuff it under a cap or use a visor to push it back, making my head and hair sweatier than necessary and always looking awful after a run. i'd love to find a headband that can keep my hair out of my face and still look good. =)

    ReplyDelete
  98. My hair is just short enough to defy a ponytail, but just long enough to be a pain. I also have a weird shaped head, so headbands tend to slowly inch towards the back of my head and then snap off once the elastic gains momentum as it re-shapes. Hats are too hot sometimes, or cause me to break out on my forehead.

I deal with my hair while running by making tiny twists with sections of my hair and then bobby pinning them down. It looks like an 8 year old's attempt at "prom hair" but it stays out of my face. I have always dreamed of a hair contraption that would be like a breathable skull condom to keep my cursed hair out of the way.

  122. I LOVE my longer hair, but HATE it in my face while running. No headband I have tried has really stayed in place. My visor helps, otherwise I use the sweat to slick it back, but then the sweat still drips... well let's just say I would LOVE to get even one of these headbands. If I don't win, will have to check it out anyway. Need one that stays in place! Thanks!
