I’ve posted a few times about prioritizing during high volume training seasons. What needs to stay and what needs to go. Clearly, the organization of my workout clothing has become the lowest possible item on my priority list right after showering and feeding the children.
This is a disgrace. If my kids did it I would berate, lecture and ground them. Clearly, I need a good spanking.
Thing is, I am kind of an organized person. On a good day these clothes are set up in neat short, sport’s bra, running shirt, jersey piles and are even sorted by sport. But, with these early morning workouts I tend to pick clothes and run out the door. Also, this mess is behind closed doors in my closet, so it gets neglected. Out of sight, out of mind.
I can find all kinds of time during taper to redeem myself. I hope I have a redemption picture later this week to share.
Please tell me you have a mess like this somewhere.
SUAR
My mudroom.
ReplyDeleteRedemption is yours Beth! Your high energy personality will need something to occupy your time next week until the HIM!!
ReplyDeleteOh absolutely! It's called the laundry room; my closet is a close second these days.
ReplyDeleteMy cardmaking area---so many little scraps of paper all with a potential purpose....
ReplyDeleteMy "office" looks like that - I have no time to organize it so the piles just keep growing!
ReplyDeleteIf you know how to get the stench out of your running clothes, please fill me in. Mine stink even after washing.
ReplyDeleteYep... my whole house.
ReplyDeleteMy whole house is one big pile of bike accessories, clothing, wheels, etc... It doesn't help that my hubby is an industry rep so the bike crap gets doubled!
ReplyDeleteI'm with XLMIC my whole house....maybe not piles but don't look for the dust and cobwebs...ok there are plenty of piles too..
ReplyDeleteFunny, I thought that was a picture of my own closet....
ReplyDeleteMy children have threatened to report me to "Horders" But I have 2 sister-in-laws visiting. So have been fored by guilt to purge and organize. This and training fo a tri and 2 half marathons in the next month.
ReplyDeleteThat was my car until about a week ago when I just picked everything up and threw it all out (it wasn't workout clothes) but if I couldn't find it and didn't need then it should go in the trash.
ReplyDeleteAs for workout clothes I do have that type of pile. It is in a basket in the washing room and I go in there and pick out the stuff I need instead of folding it. Drives Karen crazy and then every 3rd Sunday the pile is so high and heavy she can't carry it and I then fold it.
I have a pile like that every week but no closed doors to hide behind it. I have to step over it until I can clean it and put it away. Some days I worry/hope that it will just take itself down stairs to the washing machine...
ReplyDeleteAre those clean or dirty? I usually get a nice pile of dirty ones on my bathroom floor. But my clean stuff is always organized. Organization is priority in my life over things like paying attention to my husband.
ReplyDeletePaula - they are clean, and they once were folded.
ReplyDeleteI've taken to doing laundry and putting the clean, dried clothes on the guest bed...and now it basically looks like your picture.

ReplyDeletecomment mistake. the bottom of my closet, and back of my station wagon look like this right now.
ReplyDeleteI have 2 huge seabags (thanks to my Marine son) 1 is for cold weather, 1 is for hot weather running apparel
ReplyDelete. Both are piled on top of the treadmill I never use
Who let you into my house and allowed to take pictures? :)
ReplyDeletealmost every room.....
ReplyDeletelooks like something you can pay your kids a buck to fold up for you. Convince them it can be done in the length of time it takes one Ke$ha song to play and they can wear headphones.
ReplyDeleteyou should see my car on most days... I just cleaned it out since we just moved, and was able to finally get all my stuff consolidated in the new house. It is amazingly one of the few areas that I have organized. Priorities, right? bikes and gear unpacked first, then kitchen :)
ReplyDeleteYup. I have a big plastic tupperware bin that I throw all my run stuff in, and my bike stuff is all piled on the window seat in the living room, which is also the room where my bike resides when I am not riding it. And no, we don't entertain very often!
ReplyDeleteHalf of my closet looks like that. It mostly has an assortment of bike shorts, tights, and knickers with an assortment of other gear mixed in. A pile. A big messy pile. :-)
ReplyDeleteHaha before today I swear my whole house felt like it looked that way.
ReplyDeleteDuring peak training times the inside of my truck looks like that...plus bike, plus swim gear!
ReplyDeleteI thought it looked a bit like the $5 sale bin at your local store after it had been picked through by a horde of voracious shoppers.
ReplyDeleteNormally I do as I'm told, because I've been married a long time, but I'm sorry to disoblige you. All my training gear is clean, unless I've just taken it off. Running shoes in the shoe storage with other shoes near the front door. Jerseys and jackets and such hanging up. Shorts on a rack. Socks with other socks.
ReplyDeleteNow, Donna, for that stank, add some vinegar to the wash. If that doesn't do it, try a half and half vinegar water solution in a bucket and let the gear soak a while. The other thing is to wash it right away. No I didn't invent this, but my buddy Julie did.

My house has gone to shit while training. I'll say though yesterday I cleaned TONS! It's amazing how you have time when your not training for HOURS at a time. Although now I'm worried seeing what you're doing today!
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say that of all my drawers, etc., it's the workout clothing that is a scattered mess also. Perhaps too much stuff? Don't want to admit that, but...
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the organizing!
Just want to know what google searches you got with a title like that :)
ReplyDeleteTiff wouldn't let me have a pile like that in the house. But, I do have like 3 if them in the garage!
I totally have "this mess" in recurring fashion on one counter in the kitchen...you know the one with the printer and the cookbooks...and all the other crap The Fam throws there.
ReplyDeleteMy closet!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any messes at the moment, but I can tell you that I RARELY make my bed.
ReplyDeleteMy laundry room, my closet, etc...
ReplyDeletemy boyfriend asked if I had let someone come in and take a picture of our bedroom floor when he saw your picture:)
ReplyDeleteThe corner where our dirty clothes get tossed looks like this, except there is an almost empty cloths hamper in the middle...
ReplyDeleteI use the clear tote drawers to organize my running stuff...one drawer for sports bras/socks, one for top and one for bottoms. Works really slick!
Yep, our bedroom, foyer and office.
ReplyDeleteYes! My laundry pile sits clean but unfolded taller than Everest during marathon season. Poor kids have to scavenge for their clothes from the pile.
